This + Troop Transport...

Really looking forward to trying this out in Worr.

It is another tank.  I think there is space for this in a Maksim deck to get some tokens in play.  Seems like a deal considering you get a 2/4 and two 1/2s.

Honestly, it's good enough to be worth consideration in every AM warlord.

Straken boosts the Guardsmen, while Coteaz is getting disposable bodies to feed his hammer.

If you want to go ham with Guardsmen spam, you should definitely give this a look.

Yeah, true!

All AM warlords are getting some good out of this unit.

(Sentimental Marine) Gorzod gets Guards eh?

Not this time, it's loyal

See, I'm not fussed on this for Marksim. He's not trying to pump out tokens (plus he's got a great support to do that for him), and I think the cost clashes with other cards I'd rather have out. Nice idea, but would rather see something non-loyal that poor Gorzod could try out than another buff for Worr.

The problem with good loyal cards is not "It is good for Worr," so much as it is difficult to actually make a card for Worr because Worr's ability is phenomenal, always a buff, and hard to have a drawback to. On a green planet? Get stronger. Did Worr jump with you? No retreating. Are you his signature squad? It's the most efficient unit in the game.

Any unit that you can put on a green planet is inherently better for Worr. Any unit that brings multiple bodies is inherently better for Worr because, on a green planet, this card is essentially a +3 attack spread over three bodies.

Either way, judging a Loyal Card for not being good with Gorzod is dumb, because Loyal Cards cannot jump into another deck anyway and is intended for A.M. warlords.

LoricatusLupus I'm surprised.  A 2/4 tank plus two 1/2 units at a planet for 4 cost seems pretty good for Maksim to me.  Yeah Maksim is not the AM warlord for a  weenie swarm deck (or token synergy), but having some tokens in there will help free up deck slots.  It would have been nice if it was a 5 cost Elite with slightly beefier stats such that it could benefit from the Elite support package Maksim is likely to include, but I guess we can't have everything.

I really want to try this in Straken, but I've been so burnt over the life of this game by playing Straken that I'm gun shy about making a deck for that guy again :)

Exactly my problem phillosmaster: in his deck this unit is jostling with Vostroyans that benefit from his supports; Sister Superior who's getting him double use from supports; Hellhounds that provide the only AOE in tank form and then of course the Elite tanks that have their cost reduced to 4 by the auto-include STC Fragment. It's not that I dont rate this at all, I was just expecting a 3-cost tank unit as an alternative to the Chimera in Vehicle decks. And I think you're missing my point TheNick - I don't think this unit is WORSE because it's loyal, rather Gorzod falls a notch as a Warlord due to not having access to it. I'm simply suprised that the designers didn't make a non-loyal Tank unit so that more players could try it out in a wider variety of decks.

I still don't like Hellhounds, but I can understand why people are including them.  I think this is a much better 4 cost slot include.  My take was going the SM route and I'd much rather take Tac Squad Cardinis at two cost than the Hellhound.  I think that might explain our very different opinions.

Add:  The fact that it produces Guardsman tokens is probably precisely the reason it's loyal.  I don't think there has been any non-loyal card that allows for Guardsman token generation out of AM.

Ah yes, the Zarathur problem. Every card simply does more damage with Warlord X. Worr is even better (worse?) about it, since he doesn't even have to be present.

That's a reasonable point, I think my fetish for themed lists might sometimes blind me to the idea that other people are actually trying to make competitive ones! I've only really gone for the Hellhound over Cardinus for that reason (and the possibility of swinging twice with Keep Firing). But that's what I like about having a larger card pool now: much more varied lists, even with the same Warlord.
