Ok, I see your point, but again one could argue that the wording "Put each eligible attachment into play" combined with the fact that Stealth Cadre specifically states that it can be put into play as an attachment enables the prototype to use them in this manner.
Yeah...but that reasoning only covers half of the requirements for the Crisis Suit. The ability says:
1. Search the top 9 cards of your deck for 2 Tau attachments, and
2. Attach them to this card.
Your reasoning covers #2 for things like Gun Drones and Stealth Cadre, but it doesn't cover #1. Such cards aren't attachments while they are in your deck, so they cannot be found by the "search" aspect of the ability - and so never move on to #2.
I agree that if they could be found in #1, they'd attach just fine in #2. But, the overall ability will not let you pick up units that can enter play as attachments.
He would had been amazing if cadre could be attached
missed potential right there.
Would have also been pretty good if it could hit non-Tau attachments, but as it is, it's another (currently) pseudo-loyal card, and whilst it will usually end up with decent stats from a Rifle or Aux Armour, it's not particularly likely to hit 2 attachments, it can miss completely, and none of the current attachments offer anything particularly funky for this kind of investment. (It does come in prepped for For the Tau'Va though, which is an added benefit)
If Tau ever receive an attachment with a Jetbike-like ability, or that grants a keyword, this could become very tasty indeed.
Nice unit for Shadowsun to buff up when SS commits to a planet. Not so much for the other Tau warlords.
Actually, I'd say it's biggest strength is that it allows you to enhance a different unit (assuming it hits at least one attachment). Wouldn't want to keep buffing a single unit to have it Klaivex'ed.
"Put each eligible attachment into play attached to *this* unit"
My bad with poor choice of words. What I meant is that you can then use Shadowsun to buff another unit, instead of going for a Megazord Proto-Crisis. Spreading your attachments is winning.
Ah, sorry, makes sense now!
It still can boost another unit with Even the Odds.
Has anybody tried this with Aun' Shi? If you put him out where the opponent would really like to commit and search for an ion rifle or two. Even just one ion rifle gives you 7 attack with armorbane. That well at least serve as a huge deterrent
Played versus AunShi with it, as Eldorath. The unit never struck once. It was exhausted most of the time.
