(Sentimental Marine) I was expecting such a card now that they had released so many support-killers. Tau Technology of course!
Orbital City is great. Keeping Orbital City alive is good.
0 cost deploy stalls are great.
0 cost deploy stalls that demand a particular deckshape, and which have a chance of achieving nothing: not so great. After all, how many people run Murder Cogitator?
I did, on the rare occasion that I played Chaos, until recently, and... it was pretty bad.
I hate Colony Shield Generator. I hate it all the more because I might actually cave and put 1 or 2 in my Aun'shi deck. Introducing more support hate and then releasing this card just feels mean and hateful to Aun'shi. In my mind, give it even a slightly beneficial in-play ability, and it's a much better card. Something like "Units in your HQ are immune to Battle abilities and enemy events." Situational and reactive, but at least it would be doing something while you wait around for your enemy to destroy it.
This card should have read:
Interrupt: When your opponent triggers an ability that targets a support you control, cancel its effects.
Are you presenting this language as an example of how you wish it worked, or as a clearer way of wording how it does work? Because that wording leads to very different outcomes from how the card actually works as printed.
That would plain and simply be broken. To have that text it would need to be 1/2 cost with an exhaustion clause. I think it's fine as it is since it's a 0 cost card that fills your deck of space that would be better spent for a lot of other matchups. For the times it is useful it acts as a deterrent rather than actual protection for your support since your opponent would need to play 2 support hating cards in order to by pass it (with the exception of the Imperial Fist Devastators, which would probably be played regardless).
Whether it's worth sticking in a deck, however, is another question. I really can't see much reason to play more than 1 copy even in a support reliant deck (Orbitals, Bonesinger) but that 1 copy would act the same as 50 due to the deterrent effect. At the very minimum it's a deploy stall, but as 1-of copy I'd probably take an event/attachment since at least it's a shield.
I'm suggesting what I would have liked it to look like.
I think that text would be the bare minimum I'd need to consider making room for it, and even then I'd be hesitant to do so. Probably would do so out of Aun'shi, but not for the other warlords.
As it stands at present, I don't think its worth running even for Aun'shi. I see what you mean about the deterrent effect, Kaloo, but I still don't think its worth a card slot.
Neither do I, I was just elaborating the only real use I can see for it. If we get an ECT equivalent for Supports, or far more support hate, then I might consider it, but until then it's a hard include
Not sure why so many people don't like this card, this card would protect those very vital supports, esspecially your sig support of which you'll only ever get one. with the increase in support hate events and units I think this should easily be an include in Aun'shi, probably only need one in your deck, maybe two for a back up. but definitely worth it.
the deploy stall, the protection and its 0 cost make it easily work being in there. just my view, but think I think this card is definitely a nice new include
