Because he can target himself, this ability makes him at minimum as good as a Wildrider (more vulnerable to Klaivex, immune to Terror).

Place him and a cheap guy like Enraged Ork at the planet and the opponent will generally be forced to go to first planet to win it.

Just don't try this trick with 1hp units like Shoota Boyz - remember you can't shield damage done as a cost (and even if you could, the effect wouldn't take place).

Fair point, except Wild Rider can also strike then run away, or of in the first planet warlord train coming in exhausted, zip out of trouble before he can get attacked.

Personally I find myself unconvinced of his value

I think Zugnog really, really, REALLY wanted to be two command. This would have let him sit at an important planet and hold it down, or force the opponent to commit more resources to match/beat him in command. All the while threatening a deadly hit on Planet 1. As it stands, it feels like there is plenty of good tricks with him, but he's maybe just not quite efficient/consistent enough to make him great. So...pretty much like most Ork cards, huh?

I don't care much for him. Maybe with Nazzy, but not with Gorzod or Zogwort.

For me The Boss was an amazing card in every single game I played him.

Great card, especially with Nazdreg. Pop in mid battle and swing for 5? Plus he can have attachments - put a goff big choppa on him and he remains a constant threat to p1.

Oh, he can target himself. That makes him so much better!

I like using him with Crushface to make a "Staging planet". Exterminatus does nothing to this, you easily win command, and you get lots of stuff cheap. He is a great card, and will only get better with Sowing Chaos coming out to allow you to clear out a blue first planet without having to put stuff there yourself.

So send Crushface first, yes, then it costs 3 to get the Boss there. That is 6 resource before you place any other units there. While you are setting up this great staging planet, what is happening on the rest of the board?

If done turn 2 or 3 you should be OK for resources (these should be top priority for command struggles). Remember the opponent is spending money to go to planet 1 where you don't have to bother, and Nazdreg should be primarily command sniping with options to Tellyport in. See the Nazdreg thread for how the deck works (not my original idea but one I have played and approve of) - it really works!

Even turn 1, lets say you also have a 1 cost command capper? Then you are contesting 1 planet, winning 1 planet, and also have your warlord to command snipe with. He isn't going to win much more command than you unless he is Eldorath with Foretell and a hand containing Mercs and Guardians.

While I still don't rate this guy, I'd like to encourage all Ork players to run him. The more Unique units with good fighting stats there are, the more Dark Eldar players sweat, and thats gotta be a good thing.

I havent run him personally, but I have seen VonWibbles strategy in some plays against Nazdreg (Zoggworth isnt played that much in our local meta atm) and it was a real game turner.

I mostly play Tau (Aun'Shi+Eldar) and Chaos (Zarathur+Orks) and I even go as far as make Zugnog a priority target whenever I see him (even more, if there is a Crushface in play, too).

I'm still amazed with this guy. Win games pretty much alone.

After a huge amount of testing Zugnog proved to be an amazing card in a Nazdreg deck. Still thinking if it is worth including a single copy of Tellyporta pad alongside.
