A fantastic aggresive alternative for the Blood Angels Veterans. Which one will end up to be the strongest 3 drop? Only time will tell.
Much like it's Eldar brother this card is very solid and might aswell be seen as a 4/3 when it matters.
4/5
And hope you aren't facing Deception!
I don't think it will replace the Blood Angels Veterans, but yeah,it's a strong card. I wouldn't be surprised if i see him in a Ragnar deck tbh.
Straken is happy!!
I still feel blood angels veteran is better because of all the AOE and 1 damage effects in the game such as ork cannon, dakkadakka and other 1 dmg pingers in chaos.
Have to playtest them but i think they are worth their bang for the buck. 4 dmg is very good in this game, together with crushing blow, most of the units will go down.
True, this card is less interesting for the mirrors and Chaos match up.
Altough I honestly do believe that this card holds more potential with Straken. The added attack does make a difference as ATK 5 cuts pretty much everything down as 3 HP + 2 Shield is not enough to save it.
Due to the appereance of multiple 2 shield cards for each faction again I think it's a matter of personal preference. Both have their advantages. AoE 1 and AoE 2 don't kill this card either so more often than not you will still be able to do some heavy damage with this card to Warlords or other units that happen to be on the same planet.
Granted I do think that if the AM player wants to go the "try to break me" route with BAV's, Chimera's and Rockcrete Bunkers the BAV holds more value. The difference here is however that these cards don't have a particular great synergy with either Straken or Cotaez.
As I've said in that cards comments, I don't rate the Eldritch Corsair, as it just doesn't fit the Eldar playbook and there are better options for that cost slot for Eldar. Plus, of course, Eldar decks are just full of 3-cost greatness already, and have the rest of the room crowded out with strong events and cheaper cards up for command. Corsair doesn't work for Eldar, is my belief.
To be completely weird here though, I really DO rate this card.
Its a 3-cost Space Marine, which means it can be brought in with Drop Pod Assault, it fits their aggro playstyle, it can be saved with Indomitable...
Its a non-loyal Soldier, which means it can provide extra hitting power to Straken decks (who traditionally aren't that great in the 3-cost slot).
Those factors make it a much better card than Eldritch Raider, despite being its apparent twin.
I fully agree with you that the "twins" hold different values in different factions.
However, unlike most, I do think this card can hold it's value very well within Eldar because of it's big body and comparable effects as Drop Pod with Gift of Isha (while I agree that Gift of Isha is slightly worse).
The main difference for Eldorath is that his units are allready quite stacked in the Cost 3 department. But when you don't decide to go for the Tau allience (because of Ranged/Ion Rifle synergies) this card is the next best available thing. In special because combined with cards like Warlord Destructor and others, you create a Combat presence that is resistant to pining, resistant to a (non Zarathur) Warpstorm and is a fantastic target for Mobility. The upside of this is that Nullify can be kept for other problematic events without needing to include other Unique Eldar units.
As such, I still remain very positive for this card because unlike White Scars Bikers this does fill a gap in the previous weakness Eldar had (and that is beef-bodies).
3 HP isn't so much of a beef-body any more though or course, not in the current card pool with so much 4-attack floating about in one form or another. Not to say the point isn't valid, just that Raider is less valuable to Eldar than it might have been.
Whats cool here for Drop Pod Assault is we now have two units that can DPA in for 4 attack, which is a big and important number. Isha is more consistent, but DPA gives a permanent Asset, and has better timing a lot of the time. While I'd include this card for DPA, my Isha plays have no shortage of good targets already.
