Assault Valkyrie with a dozer blade anyone? Definitely something I'll have to comment on in the Chime of Eons article, cos thats just plain silly.
Sticking to the game qualities though, this is weird in that its like Hostile Environment Gear, but for vehicles, and cheaper but smaller boost.
1 shield rather than 2 stops it being a strong card, but this is still a card that the right deck and right build could use well. Non-loyal means its an option for Nazdreg and brutalified (not a word, I know) vehicles in the rush game.
3/5
Not a flexible AM attachment since it's limited to Vechicles.
Currently not many decks of AM, Orks or SM run a multitude of Vechicles that would need this boost.
With it being a 0 card card it does have some potential. However the fact that it only has a single Shield Icon to work with suffers to much from other options being better.
2/5 (That has a very small chance to grow to 3/5 if FFG decided to give cheaper more viable Vechicles in the upcomming Wapacks, which I don't think will happen)
I personally would like to add 1x or 2x of this in an AM deck running 3x Bodyguard, just for test.
Go for it, let us know how it went!
I personally only use Assault Valkyrie currently as the legal unit for it to be attached on. Which works perfectly fine on it's own, which is why I won't spend card slots to it.
Put couple these on Valkyrie and you have the staying power of a helldrake. When they nearly shoot you down you crash it into their troops with noble deed. Between muster the guard and this i might consider edging some vehicles in my deck. Hell hound and Raven seem playable now.
Vehicle warlord where.
None yet. Don't knock it till you test it. That goes for every card we review
Hahahaha:
IN THE GRIM FUTURE THERE IS ONLY STEAM!
Am I the only one who loves the idea of putting this on a Leman Russ? It's iconic AND makes the thing dang near invincible! Add Bodyguard to the tank and then a nice Rocrete Bunker or two and they're going to have a tough time killing your other units. It even laughs at Armorbane! (I don't shield it...I just take it...and keep on coming.)
Heh, back in the Rogue Trader days my friends and I took one of my little brothers Thomas toys, cut its face off, glued it on a transformer, and statted it up using the robot rules from that book.
We called it Thomas De Torqengine.
Fond memories!
No doubt a 4/4/8 that costs 2 cards and 5 resources is reasonably solid. On the other hand, thats somewhat comparable to a Heldrake being played with Promise to Glory for 2 cards and 6 resources, but with a little less cost, no flying,. and a lot less attack.
My concern here would be that single big units remain quite easy to counter in this game, between Klaivex, Archon's and Inq Fortress. Likewise, it'd only take punches from a pair of Borkan Recruits to bring that combo down, and 4 damage remains within the shieldable range.
So certainly, not a bad combo at all, but still one that is possibly not at the top level.
Having said that, as of next pack, there's a strong case to be made or a deck that runs Ammo Depots, a load of cheap command units, and some really strong supports, and such a deck will need a finisher play. The combo you mention could be exactly that play.
Anyone tried this in Maksim yet?
