I just don't know if I have the card slots for this. I want to double shield by ion-rifled Wraithguard but a little too combo-y to be reliable. Still, I like seeing more cards that improve shields.

Splash him over into Tau with Fireblade Kais'vre to shield a single attack for 8. Declare victory because of the size of your shield.

Splashing this card is not great because it has to go onto an Eldar unit.

To get it to work more effectively than just using the shield no the card, you need another shield card in hand, ideally 2 or more. There simply aren't enough cards to make it work imo.

If it didn't exhaust, maybe. As is, I think its one of the weakest cards in the game. I can't see myself wanting it in a deck. 1/5

This card should be named: Guardian "meh' Armor

If it was just Eldar unit, and not Eldar army unit, then there might be an argument for making Eldorath more survivable. Tempting though it is to be able to generate 4 or 6 shields on an Eldar Army Unit, its too many cards for not enough benefit.

I agree with VonWibble: probably the worst card this game has seen so far.

The curse of most Eldar Attachments.  Starcannon suffers the same problem - it could be useful in some circumstances but the fact it has to attach to an Eldar unit renders it virtually unplayable.

I won't Mesh with this.

1/5.

I think you should kill / axe that pun.

Only if someone decides to Shield it.

Has anyone even tried this card? It's a free 1/2 shield card per turn (you only need 1 shield in hand to use it). Obviously it is not a "deploy to insta win" card (none should be), but so many players like or are trying to use economy generator supports, those that generate 1 resource advantage per turn. Why not try to use this card? It may find its place with some future releases or a changes in the metagame.

Assigning to an Eldar army unit seems worthless because the unit will eventually die? Well, the card actually helps avoiding that.

That's good to hear. You've found it works for you?

I am sceptical from a theorycrafting POV, as it looks to me as if you are spending a card and a resource to have a non-guaranteed benefit (as you need the shields in hand). Essentially, a combo that requires three moving parts (Eldar unit, attachment, shield) would tend to need a huge benefit to be worthwhile.

Bbut playtesting trumps theorycrafting, and if you've found it works I may have to revise my assessment. I also accept that two of the three moving parts (Eldar Unit and Shield) aren't that hard to include many many copies of!

I think this card would do much better as a support.

Problem is that you need to spend a resource and a card to get it work and your opponent will know that you plan to shield and protect that unit so if your opponent has enough attack it dosen't help and if the target is dangerous enough I'm more worried about stuff like archons terror than just dmg.

But many do not really care that much about their units dying because of:

Only costs 1 point more, or offers an additional Shield card.

Protecting cards becomes unneeded when you can return them (even if it's for a short period) when needed.

Right. Now imagine you are able to keep your unit alive during a fight in a planet thanks to the Armour. In the next phase, your opponent will need extra effort to kill it (again doubling a shield card) and when it's finally dead, you can play a gift of Isha and once again strike back.

I don't see it as a one or the other election because their use is completely opposite. The Armour is for defensive play, and the Gift of Isha is for Warlord assasination. Also, the Gift is very limited on the unit it targets. The Armour makes you immune to the Warpstorm.

Be aware the Guardian Mesh Armor doesn't untap from combat round to combat round, so it can't be used repeatedly in one game turn.

Definitely not, but you still have the shield boost each combat phase.

At the very least, should have cost 0.  Or not exhaust to use so you could use it multiple times.

I'm half tempted to test this in a Shadowsun deck with loads of Eldar units, since at least the Ambush Platform would make this free, there's For The Tau'Va synergy, and it can be boosted with the core set unique (can never remember his name). However, even then Space Marines just make better allies and are far less situational. If the Space Marine equivalently costed attachment, the Godwyn Bolter, is taken instead it is just a generally better card, and that doesn't see play either.

Maybe there'll be something in the future that will make this card worthwhile, but until then we can just bask in that Eldar's Zoolander pose ....

Eh but anyway, not to derail the discussion or anything, but THIS card seems very interesting too..

Look at that OP ability it grants the player..

Tut tut, such Eldar power jank..

They see my armour ....
They hatin'

Just meshin'

Tryin' catch me shielding dirty!
