I must now admit since you won with this deck I'm now slightly less ashamed of getting repeatedly trounced by it on OCTGN. Slightly less. Would you mind explaining a bit about the turn-up and meta of this tournament since I can confess to not really knowing anything about it? Also super happy that a 50+ card deck is doing well, makes me think I'm not quite as mad as I must seem when I play my wonky 50+ card decks.

Well. We played swiss 5 round and i dont meet any kith on tournament. Results was 4-1. I think that my opponents were not ready for such deck and palace on first turn still win game...

Cato 1-0

Nazdreg 2-0

Straken 2-1

Ragnar 3-0 (put to play 1 BAV and 2 librarian via soul seizure :P)

And i got bye

Most value card - Crucible of Malediction

Why is Dark Posession in this deck?

Why is Dark Posession in this deck?

It can be useful vs ooe\chaos\am\shadowsun\de.

I don't get how you can win with so few combat units.

As someone who has faced this deck I can tell you that the Destructors, Klaivexes and Wracks do a great heap of work backed up by tons of shields and/or removal. The rest of the load is pulled be the Warlord himself or by units stolen with Soul Seizures. The whole point of the deck is to make sure that the opponent (me) can't play enough combat units to fight efficiently. Either the opponent only has "bad" and cheap combat units which you can deal with or nothing at all. Anything big will most likely get removed by one way or another (either Searing Brand if I'm low on cards in hand or Power from Pain if I'm low on other units) and then get Soul Seizured back in to fight. With the tricks available to Rakarth your hand is most likely a known entity for your opponent and thus he/she can focus on denying the things that you need to be efficient. It's a combination of choke and milling where you don't have much and the things you get are useless, this of course only applies when the pilot of the deck is experienced and skilled since it's not easy to pull off.

Urien ftw.

Survivalist is so good for him. Get your cheap tortures, fast.

Poison warlord... imminently.

I'm glad to see Urien getting some recognition at last. Visions of Agony + Oubliette + Crucible means the opponent will hardly get any 3+ combat units, and the few on the board will quickly be sacrified once the cheap ones (whose damage is never shielded) are slain.

My doubt is, with such a heavy hand and draw control (not choke, but control), are the three copies of Klaivex a neccessity?

There is no point to remove x3 Klaivex from deck. He help me won too often...

Has anybody tried Coliseum Fighters in a Urien deck? I know they have no command and their stats are a bit low for cost, but it seems like being able to "do unto others" yet again would improve the power of the mill.

No Prophetic Farseer?

No Prophetic Farseer?

Main target for mill is units\draw cards. No point to discard event cards if opponent lose command phase on every planet.

Played a very similar deck to this in a SC this weekend and did fairly well.  Lost in round 4 against Cato, which knocked me down but otherwise I was surprised at just how effective this style of deck can be when played well.  If I had practiced and fine tuned the deck I think I could have definitely made top 4.  Though to be fair most people at the tournament have not faced this type of deck before.

Urien, Klaivex, Wracks and Warlocks did all the fighting.  Klaivex needs to be a 3x include.  It is the punch in the deck.  Crucible, Palace, Oubliette and Warp Spiders really grind the opponents combat unit production to a halt.

Fearmongers suck.  Warp Spiders are way better.  Fearmongers are too expensive and the tortures do enough to whittle down the opponent's hand with the command choke in place.  The Spiders ensuring the opponents don't see game winning cards is way more valuable.  Better they never draw them to begin with.

Things I've thought about including but I'm not sure how to fit in is firstly Archon's Terror.  Urien almost always get's bloodied before the last battle in my experience since he's doing so much fighting himself.  Terror could close out a close battle at a game winning planet.  Maybe better than the suffering in this deck.  Not sure.  Secondly I'd like to try Holding Cells in this style of deck, but you really don't want to cut down any of the supports in this deck so that's even harder to figure out how to get the card to fit.  Turning off whole unit choices makes the choke/mill even easier I would think.
