It also stops Aun'shi and other Ethereals retreating, which helps when you are going to lose a battle through being outnumbered. Not running it is a good choice for many decks, but x1 is perfectly reasonable for Aun'shi.
Tweak wise, I'd suggest that the Fire Warrior Elite are a bad fit. While they are great in Shadowsun decks with Ambush Platform and Repulsor Impact Field, they don't do much for their cost here, and I think another Vior'la Warrior Cadre plus another Aun'ui Prelate would be more impactful and efficient.
I also don't rate Homing Beacon much: promotion and recon drone are stronger cards to me, the latter especially. I can see that Beacon avoids interference with Tense Negotiations / Tarrus plays, but if that is the game plan I'd be more inclined to go:
-2 Homing Beacon
+2 Recon Drone
-2 Rogue Trader
+2 Heavy Marker Drones
I'd also be inclined to directly replace TN with Deception, as smaller boards tend to favour Aun'shi, and more 2-shields = more advantage from command strength.
