Tau Space Marines
Tournament Quality
Tau's recently gained buffs and additional Command utility lead to a strangely versatile deck, considering it can't stay and fight.
Warlord
Order by: NameTypeCost
Total Cards: 0
I played this at a 4-round Store Championship recently and went 4-0, beating Coteaz, Straken, Zarathur and the Chaplain. Where the Eldar version tried to tie up battles with the goal of forcing an overcommit and follow-up Doom, this deck aims to win the battles it commits to with the help of the resources it gains with its exceptionally efficient command game. With some of the new cards, we get some increased command survivability with Exporatory Drone, and get to combine the Ion Rifle and Repulsor Inpact 2-shield slots, thanks to the utility of Auxiliary Armor.
Declare the Crusade is probably the most defining card of the deck and helps the deck overcome a lot of obstacles the deck used to run into (I've run Aun'shi off and on since he released, and ran him with as much success as can be hoped for Worlds this year), as it allows you to slow the game down if you do not find any of your useful mobility cards early. Separately, with all of the planet effects in the game right now, it gives a great deal of control over whether or not the critical battle will be the color of the players choosing, or whether they've been committing all of their resources to the wrong planet.
The deck probably won't win any/many regional tournaments, as it still has some consistency problems, but it's come a long ways in the last few sets.
