Begun, the Drone War Has

No Gun Drones? DDS is after all a lot more conditional than they are, and you have plenty of targets to attach them to (certainly a lot more than that Starcannon or Aux Armour for example).

Well, Gun Drones were one of the last things I cut to get down to 50 cards. You're right that it has more targets than the Starcannon (18 targets for Gun Drones, 12 legal targets for Starcannon, but the 3x Falcons are not a great target), and the same number of targets as the Aux Armor, but the Aux Armor has 2 shields and works with Shadowsun's ability.

On the other hand, I really think I should make space for at least 2 Gun Drones.  Probably will remove the Deceptions - I'm not sure they're really necessary for this deck.

A little more self-analysis on the units.  I don't want to go much higher than 31, and might want to go with 29 or 30 (will know more after testing).  The units are expensive and with so many vehicles, I might need the Stealth Cadre to be a unit so it can hold wargear.

Must include (19):

3x Earth Caste Technician - For obvious reasons.

3x Exploratory Drone - This is the deck it shines in, IMO.

4x Shadowsun's Stealth Cadre - For even more obvious reasons.

3x Wildrider Squadron, 3x Wildrider Vyper, 3x Mighty Wraithknight - 9 targets for Bonesingers and Saelum Enclave

Pretty solid includes (6):

3x Soaring Falcon - Need the extra targets for the supports.  If you do have one of the supports out, it's an amazing capping unit.

3x Warlock Destructor - Too good not to include, is a target for the Enclave, and we need a few non-vehicles to hold the attachments that can't go on vehicles.

On the Bubble (6):

2x Eldar Survivalist - I think this deck is in a good position to defend them, and I could use the extra economy.

2x Wraithguard Revenant - Another target for Bonesingers and Enclave, although Bonesingers can only reduce them by 1, but sometimes that may be the best option in hand.  Recurring them from discard is good.

2x Gun Drones - Great card, obviously.  There are a lot of units that can't hold it and it doesn't have shields like Auxiliary Armor, AND I don't have Ambush Platform.  I prefer my Gun Drones to come in via Ambush Platform, because otherwise, they tend to not get a chance to fire.  And unlike the Drone Defense System, they can't come in via Wildriders.

Outside Looking In:

Auxiliary Overseer - This guy, I think, is going to be a tough include in any deck, because it has to be a deck with a lot of allied units, and once you've included your sig squad, your allies, your Gun Drones, and your Tau cappers, there's not much room left.

Recon Drones - I can't believe I'm building a Tau deck without Recon Drones.

Vash'ya Trailblazer - Great target for many of the attachments in the deck.

Prototype Crisis Suit - Not even close to making it, but I'm wondering if Drone Defense System makes him playable.

Other non-unit things that I just couldn't fit:

Ambush Platform - I want it in here so bad, but Shadowsun decks are always tight.

Corsair Trading Post - Don't laugh, but I considered it.

Even the Odds - There's probably enough mobility without having to make my attachments mobile.

Deception - 2 shields good, but probably not needed.

A 3rd copy of For the Tau'va, Bonesinger Choir, and/or Saelum Enclave - were casualties of trimming down to 50.

Blacksun Filter - just kidding.
