Pretty much exactly the deck that I'm running, except a few less armies for a few more 2 shielders.
Just three questions:
1) How are you finding the Leman Russ Conquerer? I'm more partial to Land Raider and particularly Space Wolves Predator for my 1x big drop. My thinking is that Gorzod already has plenty of dakka, and with so many 2-shielders, plenty beefiness, so I prefer my big drop to have a big game effect - something he doesn't otherwise have.
2) Did you find any benefit for Corpulent Ork? He only really interacts with the sig squad, and is about above the cost curve for his stats. Is is a combo worth taking?
3) Also, I'm surprised that the thinking is that Gorzod is weak. He's certainly not Worr, and he isn't in the top 5 (Eldorath, Zarathur, Cato, Ragnar), but he strikes me as solidly Tier 2 (what Aslkepios called 'strong'), and probably in the top quarter of Warlords. It particularly surprises me to hear an Omega player poo-poo him. Omega is certainly a lot better after the last pack (and I've picked him up again), but I would say that he's nowhere near as reliable as Gorzod. Gorzod's ability to flood the board with beefy units is fairly formidable to a LOT of decks (I'd say Tau, Chaos, AM, and even SM are good match ups), and he gets reliable discounts almost every turn (2R+ per turn is pretty amazing). Yes, he doesn't have tricks, but he presents high attack high defence units better than anyone. So I'm wondering why your friend thinks he's weak.
In this deck, the Corpulent Ork synergizes with the Wagons and the Warbuggy. I only run one because I only really want it for the big final battle. I'm not sure it is better than something else. It is nice to be able to use Goes Fasta regardless of initiative.
My friend might have just been nice, but the lack of control and combat tricks was what I understood his comment to reference. I've found Eldorath a tough match and anyone who can jump on command.
if corpulent ork dies during battle, will your units lose goes fasta?
