You don't feel dirty for playing SM? It's not even the "cool" SM.
Interesting setup. I see you've opted to leave out Librarians and Drop Assaults.. Gutsy choice.
-The current problem I've got in my own Mavros deck is precisely not enough command focus and too much focus on eligible 3 drops for the Drop Pod Assaults..
Props for going all in on the (potentially sword-wielding) Dreadnought.
Have you play-tested this deck yet?
If you have 6 elites, didn't you think about including Fall back?
I cleanse myself with Eldorath afterwards.
I thought about it, but couldn't justify cutting anything else, since this deck really needs to find whatever niche exists in a particular opening to generate and keep momentum. Being SM, there's also Indomitable and some other cards (like Faith and Hatred) to help keep the Elites alive. Backlash would be a nice addition, but again I struggle to see what I'd be happy dropping for it.
If the flop is nice I might try and drop an early Dreadnought, in which case a lot of his benefit is from pinging planets. Predator is there mostly for its effect (and also because Tense and Dreads mean potentially *a lot* of Y'Varn triggers). In these circumstances the Elites either end up spammed on the cheap, and/or doing their work early on, so Fall Back doesn't feel quite as vital as if they were standard expensive beaters.
The Command Game is the Space Marine struggle, though. Nothing new there. All of their good units cost 3, and they have no in-house good Command units. And if you go Tau, you only get 1 2-hammer drop. Womp womp.
morbidly curious about declare the crusade... Seems like a card that would be great early game and then become a shield card mid to late game. Not really sure how good it is if the planet flop is in your favor, or completely against you either. How much have you play tested with it? And is it worth it?
Real nice deck. I cut off all Neophyte Apprentice for 2 x Hallow Librarium (my favourite support card for SM) and went 5-1 yesterday (2-1 vs Cato, 1-0 vs Salaine Morr, 2-0 vs Ku'Gath). I'll try more next week.
