Old one eye utilising a decent amount of infestation to win command and provide extra bodies.
Warlord
Order by: NameTypeCost
Total Cards: 0
So I tried out Swarm Lord and found it to be a tad lacking - I thought I'd try my hand at old one eye and see how it went.
There are a decent amount of infestation plays to help provide the tervigon enough planets to plant termagant tokens and have the Gargoyles flap around - these help with clogged with corpses plays and dropping volatile pyrovore back in via spore burst.
The Trygon can be played by dropping in via planet ability or having a swarm of tokens + digestion pool.
I haven't actually had a game with this deck yet but I feel like it will work better than my swarm lord deck - a few things I can see changing:
- Swapping the Tyranid Warriors for Termagant Hordes - Swapping the Trygon for a Ymgarl Genestealer - *perhaps* swapping the gargoyles for strangler broods, simply as the tervigon allows you to reliably plant your tokens where you want them. The gargoyles provide a similar support though.
What do you guys think? Highly up in the air at the moment and I'm looking at playing a few games with this deck soon.
Sample Hand:
Total Shields: 0
Average Shields Per Event/Attachment: 0
Total Command: 0
Average Command Per Unit: 0
Digestion Pool is quite inflexible and has a habit of clashing with the better Limited cards. Do you think it's worth playing? Similarly, how much of a discount are you expecting to get on the Trygon since you'd have to repeatedly send Tervigon to the same (infested) planet before the termagants stacked up to something meaningful?

I do have to say I've not seen much play from Digestion Pool - I agree that it and the Trygon likely need the axe. I haven't seen either come in to play yet and can't see them doing much anyway.
I've found that this deck does quite well in the command phase and has a consistent lot of infestation plays. That I'm happy with. I'm leaning toward dropping either the Volatile Pyrovores or the Tyranid Warriors for Termagant Swarms. If I do this, I'll likely also drop the Gargoyles for Strangler Broods.
What could be done:
- 1x Trygon
- 1x Digestion Pool
- 1x Tyranid Warrior
- 3x Gargoyles
+ 3 Termagant Hordes
+ 3 Strangler Broods
That could however saturate the deck with 3 Cost units which is probably not the best thing to do.
Most people have a problem with Strangler Broods surviving long enough to have a meaningful impact on a battle. Haven't been able to test with them much myself, but they're usually the first target during a battle and Regeneration would be your only way to keep them decent survivability.
Horde is okay. It competes with Pyrovore and Warrior though, which are stronger cards in isolation.

Agreed - i think I'll keep the gargoyles over the Strangler broods in there for some predation/infestation shenanigans and see how they perform.
The deck really didn't have much of an issue in command or with infestation/token generation, so I think I'll leave the unit count for now.
Changes to original deck:
- Trygon
- Digestion Pool
+ 2x Dark Cunning
A few more shield cards will come in handy and with a reasonable amount of infestation plays the ability will be quite useful too - cheers for the feedback Syntax!
