An update to my previous "Modern Shadowsun" deck with cards from The Great Devourer and late in the Warlord cycle.
Warlord
Order by: NameTypeCost
Total Cards: 0
This deck focuses on solid cheap units that you buff with Shadowsun's attachment recursion. You've several unique units which make good carriers for your attachments - putting Gun Drones there against a Dark Eldar opponent is a particularly fun move.
The new inclusions:
-Bork'an Recruits. I've shifted to a lower cost curve and these guys are the obvious next unit to bring in - there's an argument for Imperial Fists Siege Force instead, but combat help seems more important than command in this case.
-Pathfinder Shi Or'es. A great replacement for Blood Angels Veterans in this deck IMO, Pathfinder has the same stats as BAVs on a Unique body and an awesome ability.
-For the Tau'va. A gamewinning trick when you have things set up, especially with Ranged units. Multiple Area Effect hits with Gun Drones can be especially nice.
-Inquisitor Caius Wroth. This guy can be absurd on the first turn, especially if you have initiative - playing him and discarding two cards (which you'll recur) while forcing the opponent to lose three (which they probably can't recur) is an amazing bargain. He's also a solid Unique body with a lot of resilience.
Overall I think Shadowsun is probably tier 1.5 or so - not because her "raw power" is insufficient (it's actually great) but because she sometimes has consistency issues with drawing enough attachments/Cadres. That said, when she's on she's all kinds of on. Try it out!
Sample Hand:
Total Shields: 0
Average Shields Per Event/Attachment: 0
Total Command: 0
Average Command Per Unit: 0
I'm very new to the game so I may be completely wrong, but I felt one of the points of allying with marines in the previous version of the deck was the durability of the veterans?
Now you've removed them, would switching to Eldar allys and having Warlocks in place of the tactical squad not work? Yes you lose the extra AOE, but would gain a decent planet 1 bully.
May be completely off, but just trying to get my mind around your deck building decisions.

It's true that the advantage of allying with Marines is diminished now that Pathfinder fills a similar slot to Veterans (but does it better). However, Warlock Destructor antisynergizes with Shadowsun's game plan, since you want to load attachments onto your units and doing so means you lose two cards instead of one if you don't want to pay Warlock's upkeep. While there are some situations where you can turn this to your advantage, overall I haven't been too impressed by Warlock in this context.
I do want to revisit that to test out Warlock and the new Wraithguard Revenant, but for now my "mainline" Shadowsun deck is this one. Tactical Squad Cardinis isn't as good a bully as Warlock Destructor, but in the situations where you need it it can be one of the best cards in the game - especially since Starblaze and Worr are both new and popular warlords who seem to be focused primarily on swarms of weenies.
Good to see the deck we were discussing last night - shame we got disconnected halfway through our second match though, would have loved to be able to play against this Shadowsun build.
I like the low cost curve + deception + mix of tricks + abundant elites approach. Having just lost an Eldorath vs Nazdreg game when I couldn't deal with Zugnog, I know how significant that "Unique" tag can be on a fighty character, and I accept the idea that a Voltroned Unique is going to be very hard for many decks to answer.
Re: Tau'va, however, I wonder if its worth considering Recon Drones for Promotions. Not as good a card for general purposes, but it works better for Tau'va and Relay.

Was thinking about that, too. Relay, Tau'va, Redeployment, Shi Or'es will all be thankful for it. With 2 Pirates and no Traders it might thin the actual presence too much though.
Honestly, my own inclination is to drop Tau'Va altogether and add in one more Ambush Platforms and one more Eager Recruit, then leave the Drones as they are.
Without strong Ranged presence, I find it hard to justify running Tau'va.
Very similar to my deck, but I have some more punch with the Vespids and Tauva x3. It's a beast of a deck, and IMO with very good consistency. I miss the Cardinis in my deck >_< but I have Eldar as allies just to have Doom.
How do you perform with only x1 Ambush platform? For me x2 is mandatory. x3 is too much.

I agree on the issue of ambush platform, x2 seems right for me. I've leaned more towards attachments than events but overall have a very similar deck to this. I'm a big Shadowsun fan and I like to think she could push tier 1 in the future. Maybe if she gets new cards in the upcoming packs it may swing things in a similar manner to what Decree of Ruin did for Zarathur.
What is the role for the eager recruits? Just 2 extra surprise damage generally?
I can see a surprise 5 damage would be huge with ion rifle and ambush platform but having only one ambush platform makes that combo quite rare..
Am I missing something?

Eager recruit is just..a good card. Heh. That's all you need to know!
Another thing to bear in mind is that sometimes you want Shadowsun to make an unpredictable commitment that doesn't trigger her ability text, but aimed at sniping command and/or getting a battle ability. Eager Recruit is great for letting her take on whatever threat is at that target location, which with 1 attack she can struggle with otherwise.
Also, as said, its just a really good card.
Broadly though, I still prefer the Eldar alliance. Warlock Destructor is also a really good card, and I find Black Guardians to be surprisingly solid, and Superiority is a great way of maximising a 1-for-1 heavy command game that doesn't want to run 3 promotions.
I tested Wraithguard Revenant here and haven't been very impressed. I suspect the SM alliance has stronger Auxiliary Armor targets (Righteous Initiate, Tactical Squad Cardinis, Blood Angels Veterans) than the Eldar alliance (Warlock Destructor and that's basically it, since Wraithguard Revenant has unfavorable timing).
For me, the Eldar alliance is all about Superiority. Tau have a lot of 1-for-1s, and they have Recon Drone. This makes a dependence on Promotions as the counter for 2-for-2s a problem.
Tau'va likes Promotion, but I basically don't think Tau'va is as good an include as some other options.

Ha! Perfect! Thanks, man.
Lookin' forward to giving her a go. Another thing though... postmodern? Really?

It may be worth re-visiting the Eldar alliance because of Aux Armor and Wraithguard Revenant
but promotions have synergy with For the TauVa...
I prefer the Eldar Alliance just because the Wraithguard Revenant add extra synergy to Wroth

I bloodied Zogwort with one today using this deck!

Are there any cards from Boundless Hate that you would add to this deck?
Add in Gun drones and Stealth Cadres. 13 attachments seem solid to me.
