Modified the deck a bit, had some pretty good success with it so far!
Similar to what I'm currently running, except I use 3x Crisis Battle Guards instead of the Daring Assault Squads.
Just to make sure, Ion Rifle doesnt increase the AoE Damage. Or does it?
It doesn't. To power up AoE, you gotta add several instances of it to the same unit.
Ex: Attaching a Gun Drone (AoE 2) to a Daring Assault Squad (also AoE 2) will result in the Squad dealing 4 AoE damage.
I am curious. How has Ambush Platform work out for you? Because I don't see myself benefiting from its use often due to the fact that Commander Shadowsun can play it for free when he is committed to a planet with an Army unit.
Somehow, I prefer to take out Ambush Platform and put in other cards. However, others may have a more positive experience with it. If you do find Ambush Platform useful, please share your experience. Would like to know from your point of experience and match-ups.
I have x3 of ambush platform in there to maximize seeing it in play, since it is the only way outside of shadowsun to get attachments in play during combat/command. Also, since Shadowsun cannot drop Gun Drones, I use it for a surprise AoE burst on a ranged unit or doubling up on one of the AoE SM units.
Ion Rifle only pumps attack value. That way I have units for AoE and strong surprise units for Ambush Platform.

I forgot the fact that Commander Shadowsun cannot deploy Gun Drones using his ability. I have a further question. If we have 2 Ambush Platform, can we exhaust 1 of them to deploy Gun Drones as an attachment during Combat phase but play it for free since the 2 Ambush Platform would effectively reduce its cost down to zero.
Yes exactly that. So not only can you, with 2 ambush platforms, dump out a gun drone for free during combat, you can also trigger it twice if you have 2 ambush platforms for a surprise AoE 4 devastation turn.
Ambush platforms are amazing for several reasons:
- Surprise factor, drop a gun drone mid combat and wipe out your opponent. Drop two Ion rifles on a marksman AFTER the enemy warlord has committed to the planet.
- They reduce the cost of attachments.
- They can be used to apply attachments to any planet, allowing you to send your warlord to other planets but still let you get the attachments you need where you need em.
- With Eager Recruits and Ambush Platforms.... so many possibilities.
So question for you Tau players. Can Shadowsun use stealth cadre when he commits to a planet as attachments?
Stealth Cadres can only attach to non-vehicle ARMY units. Warlords are, well, warlord units.
So no, you can't attach them to her. Command-link Drone aside, I think there's no attachment Tau has access to that can be attached to Warlords, not yet anyway.
As Majestaat said, you cannot put the cadre on Shadowsun herself but you can use her ability to toss cadre onto an army unit as an attachment.
I don't think you can use Ambush Platform to play Gun Drones - it is not an attachment. Same reason Shadowsun's abiity cannot play Gun Drones. Right?
You actually can. I followed your same logic for the longest time and I logically agree with you but since Gun Drones says that you can deploy this card as an attachment, that means you can use ambush platform as a way to get it in play. If you read Ambush Platform, it says "Action....Deploy an attachment" so, since GD can be deployed as an attachment, it fits the bill.
It also works for Cadre's
