My latest iteration of an effectively mono-Yog Stall & Mill deck strategy.

This deck counts on bouncing the opponents characters back into their hand with Faceless Abductors and Man Angled-things or forcing them to sacrifice early with Single Glimpse or Calling Down the Ancients upon their characters after you hit them with a Curse of the Stone. This allows the primary deck strategy that most decks follow to achieve victory to be utilized by Yog Sothoth (getting characters into play) while he attempts his primary win condition that most decks do not enjoy which is to grind away the opponent's deck into oblivion.

Milling the opponents deck with highly effective and annoying cards such as Terrors in the Dark, Hermetic Scholar, and Prism of Many Views (offering not only mill, but the advantage of seeing every single card your opponent draws!).

It is important to put as many event spells into your graveyard while drawing choice cards into your hand with Speak to the Dead. You definitely do not want to hard cast Yog Sothoth Lord of Time and Space from your hand, so getting him into your graveyard and casting him with Opening the Limbo Gate is the preferred way to get his nastiness into play (or through Things in the Ground... *evil grin*).

Do not think that characters leaving play early will hurt Curse of the Stone. There is time enough to use curse of the stone later, and is better if you can get Things in the Ground in play to fully abuse the advantage of your opponents insane characters counting towards Things in the Ground. Get those quick characters out of play early and then concentrate on their character count later. Remember, you have a lot of board control with this mono deck. Use that control to get your mill engine set up at your leisure.

The Large Man is a great new card for this deck and deserves specific mention for this deck strategy. More often than not (like 99 times out of 100) you will win with this deck by milling your opponent's deck away. Since you are not likely to normally challenge stories as the active player and only defending, you are even less likely to win any stories. This is where part of the brilliance of The Large Man comes into play and punishes your opponent for succeeding (not just winning) at stories by milling his deck. He is a great character all by himself even without the added powers he has available, but being able to get event cards back into your hand with his action will greatly help your milling engine perform at it's most efficient pace.

A small amount of discard pile recursion is possible with the aptly named Speak with the Dead, Opening the Limbo Gate and Yog Sothoth himself, the key targets of the recursion being (but not limited to) the Curse of the Stone and A Single Glimpse and of course high cost characters. Paying 4 to bring out Yog Sothoth with the limbo gate and then paying 2 to play that very same card to get out a heavy hitter is a great combo to get a two-for-the-cost-of-yog deal.

Some sneakiness may be instituted by resourcing large nasty creatures as the The Large Man and Flying Polyps into Domains to be brought back from this limbo by the Evolving Shoggoth which is a bit more efficient than the typically used Twilight Gate. Don't be shy about bringing back a well timed Faceless Abductor or Hermetic Scholar either.
