(TOotST) x3 Steal the Soul (TOotST) x3 Eldritch Nexus (Core) x3 Conspiracy (0) This deck combines the forces of the secretive and sinister Order of the Silver Twilight with the mythic forces of Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat with a Thousand Young. The synergy between these two factions is most clearly seen in their ability to flood the board with Dark Young, repeatedly abusing the effects that trigger when they come into play, and by pairing them with the return-to-hand effects of the Silver Twilight's lodge members. Several powerful effects require you to sacrifice your own characters, but Shub-Niggurath, Dark Mistress of the Woods, lets you bring them back at a trivial cost. At first glance, the discard cost of Unbound! appears as though it will slow your deck. After all, you need time to draw cards, and discarding your available resources slows your ability to implement them. Enter Shub-Niggurath. The Black Goat's ability to play Dark Young from your discard pile means the seemingly steep discard cost for Unbound! is hardly a cost at all. While the Order of the Silver Twilight unbind the Dark Young, they also manipulate events around Dimensional Rifts. Even though Shub-Niggurath can spawn Dark Young each turn, allowing you to rush at stories and make sacrifices without hesitation, the Silver Twilight's ultimate aims take time to implement. If your opponent gains such a powerful hold of the table that you can't break it with your hordes of Dark Young, you can return Shub-Niggurath to your hand with her Silver Twilight allies (such as Lord Jeffrey Farrington), then wipe the board clean with Dimensional Rift. This deck gets back up to Speed in the blink of an eye, while your opponent your opponent will struggle to reclaim any hold. After all, the best approach to any story is one untroubled by pesky resistance... |
