Do you have a way to trick Lodge Barkeep into play? It's steadfast with the Syndicate and I'm not seeing any of their cards in this list.

I think that may be the hardest thing to catch as a new player (speaking from experience). Out-of-faction Steadfast is weird.
Question for the masses: Why do they continue to use Steadfast as a symbolic representation next to the name. Wouldn't a keyword in the text box be easier? Loyalty is already a keyword. "Steadfast 2" is just as easy to read and understand.
Just a thought.

I can see preferring that way, but I personally wish it was the opposite. I find myself more likely to notice the steadfast icons on first glance than the Loyal trait, so I sometimes find myself wishing that Loyal were somehow indicated alongside the card's name.
Thanks guys, i wouldn't have spotted this in a million years. I have a 2nd core set now was well, so i'll rejig the deck to remove the Barkeeps. I might replace with 2nd copies of core cards, certainly "Deep One Assault". Any suggestions for a similar low cost "character lockdown"?
Sacrificial Offerings is a must have card in most of my Cthulhu decks. It makes a great first turn opener when you don't have any characters in play yet.
Thanks Yipes.

Another newbie question, a bit off topic. The "triggers from discard pile" rule. Is the trigger that particular card hitting the discard pile? Or are these like continuous passive abilities as long as that card is in the discard pile?
Yeah, I think a second "Deep One Assault" and two "Sacrificial Offerings" to replace the 3 Barkeeps is the way to go here
The discard pile trigger has to be met when the card is in your discard pile. So for example to use the action from a card like Lost Oracle has two requirements: 1. Did you just win an arcane struggle? 2. Is Lost Oracle currently in your discard pile? If the answer to both is yes then you can trigger the Action.

So to answer your question It's more like a continuous action you can trigger whenever you meet the requirements. Though most cards that have actions that are using from the discard pile require a very specific set up to trigger more than once, or remove themselves from the discard pile in some way after use.

That being said discard pile actions are still extremely powerful and currently very difficult to defend against.
Thank you JDK, a very clear explanation!
