Now that I have had some cards arrive, expanding my collection beyond a sole core set, I have planned out a deck that I can actually build, not just use on OCTGN.

My collection is 3x core, all of the deluxe boxes, and Shifting Sands. As such, there may be cards suitable for the deck, but sadly out of reach at this time. However, please mention them so I can keep them in mind for future purchases.

The idea behind the deck is simply skill reduction, preventing my opponent from winning stories.

With the exception of Prof. Peaslee, all of the Yog characters give me Terror, as otherwise I risk losing my characters to terror challenges before I can win the challenge.

I've added Eldritch Nexus to ease the strain of using cards such as Clover Club Torch Singer, Lena Di Boerio and even Prof. Peaslee once their skill is sufficiently reduced.

As I'm still getting the hang of everything, but appreciate any and all advice :)

Probably the most important cards for this type of deck, once you're got your reducers in place, are Peter Clover and (especially) Parallel Universe. Get ahold of them, then you can probably begin to ignore your anxiety about losing to terror icons a little more. The same pack with P.U. Also has Tear Gas, which is another solid include.

Also, you probably don't need to be so wary of multiples of uniques. Ya gotta resource something!

First of all, thanks for the response Wilbur :)

As Peter Clover compares the cost of the character to the cost of the top card of a deck, I'm at a loss how he would help with the reducers all setup. Am I missing something?

David Pan is someone I would be tempted by however, due to being the living version of P.U. However nothing else in the pack jumps out at me.

If I were to increase my number of uniques, I'm not certain what exactly I would drop. Numbers Runners and Like a Moth are the main ones to jump out at me, but due to only being able to test on OCTGN, and also new at the game, I've no idea what would be the most cuttable.

Your mind reading of Peter Clover >>>David Pan shows that you grasp what I'm trying to say, though I obviously failed to say it!

I did indeed mean David Pan, as a kind of 'human' Parallel Universe. He's got his vulnerabilities any time he's not in story resolution, but, once there, he's a Mack Truck.

Pan and PU give you six ways to ignore terror altogether (well, they're supposed to! This strategy can always backfire, though I find it very fun in spite of that), so that's another place to start your whittling. Make Yog primarily remove problems (Abductor, Rite, Peaslee, add Pushed), while Syndicate tackles stories, for the most part by counting skill or slipping in unopposed. You might want to add about 2 Marine Salvagers to cycle PU and other fun stuff.
Glad I realised what you meant with Peter Clover ;)

Marine Salvagers for getting back PU and support cards in general sounds pretty good. Considering I'll be milling myself with De Vermis and Rite of the Silver Key, that won't hurt either.

Does make me ponder if making room for a Servant to the Elder Things to get more of my discard back would be a good thing too, or too slow at the speed some games can go?
Tear gas, Ice shaft, and Concrete and Chains are great cards for a skill reduction deck as well
I noticed you're playing 1x of all your uniques. Are you used to playing AGoT? In this game playing multiples of your uniques isn't a bad thing since there isn't a penalty if they are in your discard pile. Especially the really good ones like professor peaslee, lena, and henry knoll. I would up all those guys up to 2x at least.

The only thing that puts me off Concrete and Chains compared to Summon Spectral Hunter, is that it is the Forced Response that destroys them, not just from being skill 0 at any time. Although it is twice as fast and half the price, so might be worth trying.

With Tear Gas and P.U. being in the same pack is very tempting buy however...

I am indeed used to AGOT, where even non-characters I only use 1x, due to rather seeing more diversity in my cards than duplicate copies. But, since I can always turn them into resources, I should try and change my thought process for building and playing. The only problem is deciding what needs cutting for more copies of uniques :S
