Doing a search for Warships, I saw this card for the first time, as I lack the Clash cycle.

Now 3 gold for a location is risky, but getting a kill effect to help discourage my opponent from chump blocking so that the challenge will be unopposed is extremely tempting.

Since claim comes first, it might be that you won't have a legal target for this. Its most likely that your opponent will choose the chump blocking weenie to die, rahter than kill another character. It can only work for sure, if there are two defending characters, to have the direct kill. But if your attacking in a power or intrigue challenge this card is much and more useful, since normally in those challenges noone has to die. But for military its quite useless.

I'd rather have Longship Black Wind (CbtC) under almost any circumstance.

Foamdrinker does have the benefit of being usable when you win a challenge as the defender as well (I was just looking at this since the cycle was reprinted)
