this is possibly one of the most interesting cards I've seen for a long while. its so unique I wish I ran targ so I could play it
So if you were to play a out of house Targ card, does the text here, "Pay the printed gold cost of the attached card to put it into play..." trump the gold penalty? If that text does then wow! There are lots of "When revealed" locations/characters in the game that could splash into Targ.

Yes! "Put into play" bypasses all gold penalties (pg. 11, 4.4) ok what are the best cards to splash into a Targ deck with this?
If you use it on a card that is already shadows, do you pay just the number on the card to put into play? Or does printed cost count the S as a 2?

I'd say this looks best with a card that has a good effect when coming into play, such as Jorah or Daario - that way you have more times during the phase to play them. Eg if you went first, then the enemy played a very powerful ally, you could discard it at the start of the challenges phase instead of having to wait until next turn.

I was thinking about that too Von. When you consider the printed cost of a card, you include the S cost as well. So you would be adding 2 gold to the cost to bring a card out of shadows if it was already a shadows crest card.
It doesn't make any good when you use it on a shadow card, as you have to consider S as 2 golds when deteremining the cost.
But yes, it gives away a new abaility to Targ to play out-of-house character/location without penalty.
Something in me feels like defending this card from its 12 out of 40 rating from CGDB. Here we go.
  • Easily noted, it protects the key location or character from being discarded by INT claim if there is no foreseeable attachment discard mechanic in play by your opponent(s).
  • It can work well with The Dragonpit (TftRK) especially if an opponent ties or surpasses your shadows cards. That alone is not an amazing power, but an all encompassing -1 burn is nothing to sneeze at.
  • In the trending Dothraki decks, The Womb of the World (ASoSilence) can be a needed surprise when you win dominance. In games when Womb of the World is in play, you are targeted more so you do not win dominance. I would not scoff this play if it were my opponent brought WotW out of Shadows right before winning dominance. I might Valar them next plot though. B)
  • Who wouldn't want Shadow Tywin Lannister (TTotH) in their Targ deck with Sorrowful Man (APS), King's Landing Assassin (SaS), Young Griff (VD), as options to send back to shadows?

The problem with this card is it is inherently card disadvantage and none of the notes you make are strong enough to over come the weakness of card disadvantage.
Running three of these cards, one for Tunnels of the Red Keep (CoS) & the other two to put any land or character, in your hand, down into shadows to boost your characters strength by +2. That gives each GbQ Daenerys Targaryen (GotC) ability for only the cost of what others say is card disadvantage. The downside of this plan thought could be that GbQ could get discarded due to it being an attachment.
Aww crap... I JUST noticed that GbQ is unique! Crap. I repent of my ways.
With Selmy from the next cycle, it could be cool to put old Oakheart, Arthur Dayne or any expensive kingsguard in shadows and take them out for 1 gold. Shame it is not baratheon or lannister though.
Confused. "If GbQ becomes unattached.."

How can it become unattached if it's not technically "in play"? Is the implication that the card it's attached has to come out of Shadows without GbQ?

"..return attached card to it's owners hand if it is still in Shadows."

If what is still in Shadows? The card or GbQ? Too many undefined pronouns on this damned card.

Can someone run me through *exactly* how this gets used in play?
The card in shadows is placed face down while
Guided by Quaithe (TCC) is attached to the card face up as an attachment. It can be discarded through anything like being

Frozen Solid (LoW) at which point you put the card face down back in your hand. You can play
Asha Greyjoy (WLL) out of Greyjoy for 3 gold with this card. Play GbQ, put your Asha face down with GbQ attached. Now say in Challenges you choose to bring Asha out of Shadows by paying 3 gold.

Also note that nothing says the attachment falls of when you bring the card out of shadows, so I assume it would stick with Asha. However, if it gets discard then it has no effect because it is no longer in shadows. "Return attached card (Asha in this case) to it's owners hand if it is still in Shadows (which it is not)."
