I think after the changes to the restricted list a serious argument can be made that they have a sweet spot for GJ period. One of the top houses at gencon, the top deck at Stahleck. What did the house loose? Refugees, which every house lost.
But on topic, this is the card that I think will be Martell's worst nightmare. They can't ever realistically play it, and yet it is so good they have to have an answer for it. (And Zatoichi is right, if this card was on the design your own card I'd absolutely hate it. Giving 5/6ths (or 6/7ths) the houses the opportunity to use a 3 claim plot is bonkers.)
Notice how none of those cards is a plot card.
The other issue is that the base claim value is now a three from the plot alone. Stark can easily bump that up to a 5 now. 5 claim, that's Valar levels of character death, and this is before we even talk about murder effects. All from a single challenge.
Focused offense at least had the limitation of one challenge and not being able to defend.
I think Baratheon will be able to abuse the holy hell out of this plot since Vigilant is pretty much the bee's knees for getting lots of attacks in. It will not surprise me if Bara runs Stark's new White Harbor Dromon location that can give a character Renown and all 3 naval enhancements every turn. None of these pieces are bad on their own, but put together and it's just crazypants.
Notice how I never said they were. I agree that this plot is probably really strong, but there are some people that seem to think this plot will be the death of the game, and I feel that they are overreacting. It's a 3/3/1 plot with the ability to raise the claim. Looks like a great time to play Red Vengeance, or kneel the naval characters, etc.
a ) can be combined with this plot
b ) are easier to deal with, if you face them
I think that's what really bugs me about it; Focused Offence is fine because of its enormous drawback, but this can potentially do the same thing with no risk to the plot's user at all.
In particular I want to pull off following combo in melee with this plot: declare POW challenge with Robert Baratheon (TGM) as your only attacker -> declare any naval attacker (f.e. River Runner (TGF)) -> after defenders have been declared use Compelled by the Crown (CtB) to remove all characters except Robert and one of the defenders -> win the challenge and get 3 power from every opponent. Will it work?
