Very good support for Sand Snake and Icon removal theme. First shadow Sand snake. 3for3 bicons looks like average stats. Response trigerred by losing challange which is typical for Martell. similar to location which we get in this chapter we can't use it before to get rid of the biggest thread. This is kind of balance for icon removals tech. To give at least our opponent possibility to get one time through. What is the most important it is repeatable icvon removal
In joust, it's useless. We make it easier for the opponent to win dominance, and if he chooses a kneeling character with 3 icons, we give him the chance to use it again for attacking or defending before being able to trigger it a second time. In melee, it would depend a lot on who's the first player and in which position are we.
Hahahaha. I was baffled at first about this card. Re-reading it twice or more. I couldn't understand how it was balanced at all... it was so broken.

...Then I realised it had the Shadows cost. Thank god xD
It seems I didn't read it propperly... somehow, I thought it made kneeling characters to stand in order to lose icons... but now that I read it again... wow... it is great
But you do think of the additional 2 gold for shadows, right?
I think it is still worth it.
You can declare your first challenge with a weak character, to force your opponent to chose between allowing you to win it unopposed (or just win it) or defending it propperly and become weaker to defend the next one.
And just think of this card in a melee in which you are the first player... you just need to focus on a single player and the rest will follow.
Except it says "After you lose a challenge as the defender"...
And I don't think it's not worth it. Opens up for some fun trickery. Just not "wow" and "great" :)
