I really wish they had've explored the Bastard trait more. With Rotten Bastard, Royal Bastard, Stormlands Bastard, Ugly Bastard, Spiteful Bastard, Complete Bastard, Bastard of Robert, Fat Bastard, Bastard in Hiding and Inconsiderate Bastard (ok, I may have made some of these up), it would've been nice to be able to build a Bastard deck that focuses on hate towards Nobles, Renown, and traits such as King, Queen, Lord etc.
Because Bastards tend to be Baratheon cards and FFG don't like giving Baratheon consistent things! They get their treats and not much else. We just have to be happy with that!
Seriously though, I wish there was more individual trait-targeting cards. everyone knows about Ally-hate, but the game would be a bit more dangerous and unpredictable if there was the potential to nobble any character. Lord-hate to deal with the Viper, Lady-hate to deal with Cersei, Knight-hate to deal with Knight of Flowers and many, many more!
Now that you mention it, I could totally see a cycle of cards (named Snow, Hill, Storm, Pyke, Waters, and Sand) to play up the local bastards. Maybe we can petition for something like that in 2.0 to replace the Refugees?
So if this card was attached to a King character wouldn't the two STR's mentioned on the card cancel each other out? Meaning that all the King character really loses is Renown and gains the Bastard trait, right?
That's exactly what would happen.
