Seems pretty decent. Learned Maester with 3 strength and bicon. His ability does seem a little situational though. I'm not sure about that!

Time will tell. I'll give him a shot.

Plus, it's your choice of cards to give your opponent to go through. If you don't want to wind up with the ghost of a unique in your hand, don't give them the option.

What happens if you kneel this guy and you have only 2 cards in your discard?

Since there are not 3 to choose I would say you couldn't use his ability.

That whole "you choose" thing... yeah, pretty rockin' - it's what Street Waif (AToT) wants to be when it grows up. Late game... much hate will be formed by your opponent when you choose your best three burn events and you've created quite the dilemma.

I feel a spot could open up in my Maester deck for him! He just screams Hrakkar Pelt (RotO), so that you can use him in the Challenge phase (or before), and still have him standing for the Dominance phase so he can use his ability.

He did well in a TMP Dragon deck I knocked together. Since I'm getting him out first turn with At the Gates (GotC), I may just try and run Outwit (TIoR)...

Have anyone tried this guy in action yet? I like him a lot in theory, but I also imagine that he will be quite situational... you have to have 3 cards in your discard pile, none of which are currently useless (since that will be the card put into your hand), and that your STR 3 character has not yet been required to use in a challenge.

I will be proxying him into a deck, and so should find out how useful he is too me.
In regards to no useful card being in your discard pile, if it isn't useful, why is it there?
And my note earlier of combining him with Hrakkar Pelt so you can use him before the Dominance phase as well as during would be my main way of ensuring he is usable.

I don't find it uncommon that I end up with cards in my discardpile for which I have no use - Dissensions after I've discarded my opponent's last ally, duplicates for a character that's been killed, influence heavy cards after my Advisor to the Crown had been killed etc.

Works nicely with Hrakkar pelt, yes, but I'm still worried

I haven't found it hard to choose three cards, any one of which I'd want back. Also not hard to fake them out with at least one card that the opponent *really* doesn't want me to have back, which isn't the one I actually want them to give me. Like, say, a Flame-Kissed when I already have Lady Dany's Chambers in hand.
