I see this as another card for Lannister in melee, as it only really works when an opponent brings a card out of the Shadows, and the more opponents you have, the better the odds are.
But, there are better 2 cost characters, who will do more for me. Such a shame :(
This card would work well against other Lannisters since a handful of their events and triggered effects have gold costs. Otherwise, yea... I can't think of anything other than shadows cards for other houses.
If your deck for some reason needs Learned Crests, he's a decent pick too.
Merchant's Widow (VD) seems like a better option for me: easier to trigger and harder to be burned.
It depends a lot on your meta and your deck, however.
I had missed that she had that crest too. I agree that she's the better choice in most situations, yes.
This dude went from 0 to hero with the Kingsguard CP releasing.
What would you do with the gold though? Hoping to make money for Dominance for cards like Tywin just seems risky.

Now him, Widow, Creylan and one of the Tyrion's powering a Learned Lannister deck on the other hand...
It' makes for a brutal PbtT deck. Opening with a Schemes of the Scholar with the option to Outwit on your second plot is immense.
