I see this in so many Greyjoy decks but I don't understand why people think it's worthy. 2for1 Raider with a war icon. It's alright I suppose, but the ability is not great. Pay 2 to put him out and steal 1 gold so he goes back in your hand and you'll have to pay 1 gold next time? You're loosing gold. I guess I just don't get it, it must be the traits and icons.

Pay 2 to put him out and steal 1 gold so he goes back in your hand and you'll have to pay 1 gold next time?

I meant "Pay 2 to put him out and steal 1 gold so he goes back in your hand and you'll have to pay 2 gold next time to put him out?"

I can't seem to edit comments.
If you are running him in a choke deck then the net result of a few plays of him in marshalling can be you have something out and they have nothing. He is situational though since you can't always make it go that way but when it does he's totally worth it.
Can't take him from the dead pile right?

You can't trigger any card in the dead (or discard) pile unless the text specifically says you can.
