Unfortunately not because Valar isn't a triggered effect.

thanks, so this card can only cancel event cards?

It can cancel anything that starts with Bold text. Events, Any Phase abilities, Responses, dupes, etc.

Yeah, as long as you don't mind killing your own characters.

Wait, what do you mean it can cancel dupes? This is the first I've heard of such a thing. Canceling as preventing an opponent from playing one? or removing one to save a character? What would happen if you could cancel a player from removing a dupe to save a character?

Adding a dupe to a character essentially adds an ability which says ''response: discard a duplicate from attached character to save it from being killed etc". So, yeah, harranhall can mess with that too.

So, on a Valar reveal, you can kill your about-to-be-killed characters to cancel opponent's dupes? If so, can you do that more than 3 times?

No, you can't kill a killed char.

You can save a char or have a char, that wouldn't be killed and kill that one. But non of your about-to-be-killed chars.

Thanks to the "hilarious" timing of Harrenhal, you can kill a character to cancel an opponent's save because the opportunity to save a character (and the resultant cancelling of that save) takes place before all your characters go "about-to-be-killed" (or as the game calls it, moribund).

Read slothgodfather's excellent breakdown here - http://www.cardgamed...al/#entry115317

And you can keep cancelling saves as long as you have characters to kill - Harrenhal doesn't discard itself until all cancels have all been resolved. So yes, more than 3 times.

thats right sry, my fault ...  shame on me -.-

Discarding a duplicate to save a character is a Response, so it is a Triggered effect. Being that said, Harrenhall can cancel that duplicated.
The same happends with Brienne of Tarth (PotS). When she is participating in a challenge and you have to kill one character, that character can not be saved by a duplicate

What if you save the character you choose to kill? Does harrenhal's effect still work or no?

No. If the character gets saved it hasn't been killed so can't be used for the cost.

Damn that mobile!

No is correct. But the reason is more accurately "costs can't be saved from as there's no cancel/save step at the time you're paying for the cost".

Could this stop meera from coming out of the shadows? After reading the whole quill and tankard article specifically about her, i would assume so lol but I'm not sure

Yes, it cancels her coming out of shadows, but if they still have gold they can trigger her again.

How does this work with Chargendas? Their text says if ___ would be killed instead attach him/her to your house card, are they allowed to be killed using harrenhal to cancel a triggered effect? I would assume that this doesn't effect anything until after they have been killed and thus they could be killed using it, but does anyone have an official ruling?

are they allowed to be killed using harrenhal to cancel a triggered effect?

Yes. They will become your agenda if you kill them using Harrenhal.
