Generally overshadowed by later versions due to their far more useful abilities, this version of Daenerys is still notable as one of the few relatively cheap options for Targaryen power grab due to her renown.
Yeah the one gold difference is more than worth it for Daenerys Targaryen (GotC). It is too bad this one has the restriction on her ability of having to attack alone.

You probable are right. Playing with only Core, however, this is one of the most annoying Targaryen cards, especially for a Stark player, who will usually have little chance of Blocking her. Lethal Counterattack (Core) is one option, but will rather be spared for attacks with broad force. And thus, the stark player is effectively kept away from keeping gold, which then again can be used by the other players for example if one plays Uneasy Truce (Core), then effectively keeping Stark from the challenge type in which they are strongest. It sounds unlikely but I have seen this combination some times by now and it really can kill the Stark game.

This card works better in a Melee match. With more than one opponent, it's easier to pillage gold by exploring their weak spots (intrigue or power challenges). But still, when playing Joust, that renown keyword helps a lot.

After recently playing against friends with just the core + clash of arms cycle, I can say that this card is excellent, but it feels antiquated now with how the game has changed with much less gold being used to pay costs

Funny that with ambush/events now costing gold these could be a solid 2.0 character

She was quite fun to play in shadow Targ melee thanks to someone always saving up gold.
