(4.14) Keywords
Keyword effects with a point of initiation
(such as ambush) cannot be canceled.
Characters can be saved from the effects of a
keyword like deadly.
In order to negate the effects of keywords you have to either blank the card (i.e Milk of the Poppy (Core)) or make cards loose keywords (i.e Men of Pride (THoBaW))
Can this effect cancel House Umber Berserkers character ability?
We are playing 2v2 and I played House Umber Berserkers. Can Starfall Advisor be used to cancel this entire ability if one opponent chooses a House Dayne character as a target?
I could be wrong, but I don't think Starfall Advisor would work on House Umber Berserkers because the ability of House Umber Berserkers doesn't allow its controller to target a particular character. Rather, it is a passive character ability that forces players to choose and kill a character they control.
Any time the word "choose" is used, what is chosen is considered a target of the effect. Therefore, House Umber Berserkers does target the characters it kills. It doesn't matter who does the choosing, only that they are chosen. Also, it doesn't matter who does the choosing, it is still the card effect (not the player) that does the actual killing.
So yes, if one of the characters chosen (by anyone) to die for House Umber Berserkers is a House Dayne character, Starfall Advisor can cancel the entire effect.
I think that by the time I finally understand all the AGOT rules, V2 will be out.
