So what are people's opinions on using these guys and Doubting Septa (LotR) as a draw engine in lieu of Golden Tooth Mines (Core) in a shadows deck? Too expensive? It becomes repeatable with Shadows Tywin. I also wonder how they interact with Campfire Mime (RoR). If I have a Campfire Mime in play then unless I already have another Mercenary in play, the Campfire Mime would get the Mercenary trait after the window for the response has ended, ie. I would only draw one card. correct?
In Lieu of? Probably not. But, if you've got a shadows deck going, are you running King's Landing itself? I wouldn't rely on these guys solely, but they are great supplementary draw.

If you're taking cache as your restricted you could probably omit the Golden Tooth Mines.

As far as the Campfire Mime goes, I'm pretty sure you're correct.
im not sure, doesnt the campfire mime ability trigger as soon as a card is in play as it is a passive effect? which means it will be active when you then go to triger the responce?

Correct. The card comes into play which opens the response window. The passive kicks in and gives the mime’s the merc trait. Then at the responses section of the framework when you trigger the gold cloaks, you have 2 mercs in play. At least I'm pretty sure how that works.
Looking at the timing windows again makes me think that you guys are right, I think you would draw two cards in the example I gave above. Huzzah, interaction found!
