"Bananas."
If flaming priestess is in the dead pile, does it count strength for each asshai in dead pile and for each shadows in play? - I know it doesn't, but it sounds very awesome hahaha.
...Wait, was that a riddle?
Nah, just saying this is a very awesome card, autoinckude in all holy decks. :) anyway cards in dead pile have no effects unless stated specifically like Theon greyjoy wll
I agree, this version is very cool. I like Melisandre (RotO) in a House of Dreams (ARotD) deck with The Iron Throne (ASitD) better, but in most other Holy Asshai decks I'd go with this version.
Not quite auto-include, but only because the other versions of Melisandre are also insane. I would probably still keep Melisandre (RotO) for my holy power rush deck. But still, yeah, wow.
Problem is - althought the effect is VERY powerful, it can be useless at times. I play a lot of asshai decks and when thus new one was spoiled I kept close attention on my dead piles. Sure enough - plenty of rounds where I didnt have a holy character in my dead pile... Times like those that I like core or RotO Mel. Maybe I cant recur Red Queens Faithful with them, but they are going to be less situational.
I used this version of Mel at worlds. I have to say she is bonkers good. With her on the board RQF becomes an auto mil claim candidate. With RQF your almost surely to win Dom, and then viola they are back ready to discard more power from your opponent. Great Stall tactic in my experience.
Can she bring herself back from your dead pile?
If there is a weird way she is in dead pile yet you have her in play yes you could but the new one would automatically become a duplicate when comes into play. Think that is right.
Card abilities cannot be activated from the dead/discard piles unless those abilities specifically tell you they can.

Visenya's and Aegon's Hill can cause that not so weird situation.

Yes Visenya's hill can but idk why you would keep a dup in hand so be rare Aegon's hill would hit a card you have in play... Ah if you meant triggering her in your dead pile that you can't do. I was thinking you have a copy in play and another copy in dead pile.
You might draw in challenges with Jaime, say, and draw into your dupe of Mel. Or, Mel may have been saved from a dupe and Visenya's Hill puts her into your dead pile.

But the others are right--if you have one Mel in play you can trigger her to bring the other one out of the dead pile. When it enters play it will attach as a dupe.
