why?
I'm confused?
I'd say anyone else at the brothel will be too busy to guard :D
haha Agreed!
Can I kneel characters that kneeled in dominance? Does it depend on who's first player and stands his characters first?
All cards stand simultaneously so when you trigger his response every character is already standing.
You are able to say that you pay gold when you dont have it right?
No you can't. This isn't saying, choose something then do that something. This is saying do something unless something else happens.
May I keel Kingsroad Fiefdoms (2 influence ina single card) to cancel 2 Brothel Guard Responses?
No you can't. Influence doesn't go into a pool like gold does. If you overpay and influence cost the extra influence is lost.

If two Brothel Guards stand in the Standing phase, and my opponent only has one card that is standing, if he pays 1 gold/influence to stand the character for the first Brothel Guard, can I kneel the character with the 2nd?
Yep.
This guy plus Choosing the Spear (AJE) can be a lot of intrigue challenge fun after defenders are declared. Throw in A Game of Cyvasse (ACoS) to kneel him again if your opponent doesn't have anyone standing with 3> STR and an intrigue icon.
Now that is a son-of-a-***** combo! :)

I am not understanding the POWER claim. Do I get the power if they pay an influence or gold? Or do I get the POWER if they refuse or can't pay a gold or influence?

When you choose a character to kneel, the opponent who controls that character can choose to pay 1 gold or kneel 1 influence to stop that character from kneeling. Then, if they do either of these things you claim 1 power. So, when you use this card you will either kneel the chosen character or claim 1 power, depending on what your opponent chooses.

It's probably worth noting that if the opponent has influence and/or gold available, they can still choose to let the character kneel (thus preventing you from claiming power).

Great but the word I am having problem with also is "instead".

After Brothel Guard stands, choose and kneel an opponent's character unless its controller kneels 1 influence or pays you 1 gold. If he or she does, instead claim 1 power for your House.

It seems that "instead" of the GOLD I would get I would get a POWER "instead".

The way I read this is is, "if he or she does (kneel) instead claim 1 power for your house. If he doesn't kneel instead get a GOLD or he pays 1 influence."

I can see what you're saying, but then this raises the question of what happened to the gold that the opponent gave you?

The way I see it, the instead replaces teh kneel effect, so a better worded effect would read like:

"After Brother Guard stands, choose and kneel an opponent's character. The controller of that character may choose to kneel 1 influence or pay you 1 gold, and if they do you claim 1 power for your house instead of kneeling the chosen character."

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks.
