Some powerful location hate on this card! Is this a desperate attempt to get house stark to start playing secret hideout? :)
I was trying out this card last night. With the word "choose" in the ability, is this similar to Sorrowful Man in that an opponent can choose to discard 2 power even if they have no power, thus avoiding removing their location? That's the way I played it, but I wasn't sure. If so, that's not a big deal since most players get a couple power on their house pretty quickly.

Yes that's correct. It's been ruled that "choose" effects don't have to be successful, they just have to be chosen. So chosing to discard 2 power when you don't have it is acceptable. But if they don't have the power, you could just opt to not trigger the SID's response.
That's exactly what I did last night, waited for them to get a couple power. Thanks.
So, now that this card has lost the "choose" element of its text, what do people think of it now?

What do people think of it from both a Lannister and a Greyjoy perspective?
Well. It's gotten many times more interesting now. It's great for GJ choke to increase on the choke hold... I think I'll like it mostly there. But it might provide some nice location control in Lanni too. I don't think it will be as goof there though since Lanni is a bit "slower". But I'm not really sure... and tbfh I'm also drunk.

I'm just happy that it got errata'ed. It really needed it. Let's just hope Sorrowful Man gets the same errata ;D I would pretty much jizz in my pants then. Literally.
can you please explain the whole point of changes?
Previously the card said "Choose", so they could choose to discard the two power from their house even when they had none. But now it is no longer choose based, they must do one of them, meaning if there is only one option they could perform, that is the one they must do.

makes the card very very good for greyjoy in a winter deck, love denying key locations to my opponent

That's ridiculous. How can you choose to lose something you don't have? If you don't have the power you don't have a choice.

This is logically correct.

more and more when i build a Lannister deck im surprised by how many Toolbox cards they have and yet i haven't seen them put together for a very solid deck in some time
Too much choice, that's the problem I've had with my decks. I find them the most location hungry house, and still want more than I can fit.

Twice, I've gotten to Search and Detain an opponent's HOD location with one of these in play...they weren't too happy but I was thoroughly satisfied.

this works better than vat of wildfire to control locations?
