So if my understanding is correct, as a defender, great, I can discard an enemies' attachment but as an attacker I risk to discard one of my own attachments? right?
Well remember, you don't HAVE to trigger the response. You only trigger it if you want to use it's ability. So if you are attacking with him, he can only discard attachments on other attackers. If he is defending then he can discard an attachment on an attacker or a defender.
Ho yep, great then, thanks again
I still think it quite useful, seems a usable way to get rid of some negative attachments...

I think that this card actually can't be used to remove defenders' attachments, as the response can only be triggered after declaring him as an attacker, at which point defenders are not yet declared.

So if he was attacking along with someone else with attachments you would in fact be forced to remove one.
Not forced. It's a response and responses are optional. Also, his response can be used when declaring him as both attacker or defender, so you can remove defenders' attachments.
But you can't remove a defender's attachment, for the very reason bored2excess stated - When you declare it as an attacker, there is no defender.
If you could give it a naval icon and bring it in after challenges are declared, that would be a different story.
IF you declare it as an attacker. Howerver his response can also be activated when he is declared as a defender, at which point there will already be defenders.

He can be used in 3 different ways effectively, 1) as the attacker, he can remove negative attachments from his fellow attackers. 2) as the defender, he can remove attachments from the attacking characters or from his defending brethren. 3) use White Harbor Dromon (TGF) to give him a naval icon and declare him as either after characters are already participating.

Had some trouble understanding the use of this card the other day. Thanks Slothgodfather for your explanation.
