Can this ability stack with Northern Fiefdoms or Narrow Sea if I kneel them (i.e. -1 -1, -1 -2) ?
I've asked this same question, and the answer is no, but I'll wait for those smarter than me to tell you why. 'cause frankly I still don't understand it. :-)
Ie. Discard the Sea (two reducer) and kneel the Fiefdom (one reducer) to reduce the cost of King Robb's Companions by 3. Then use 2 influence from different cards to pay the difference.
The Fiefdom could only provide one effect: either cost reduction or influence. If it was knelt for the cost reduction, you couldn't then kneel it for influence.
Roger on the Fiefdoms. But why can't it work on the Sea? The -2 reduction is only by discarding it, not kneel & discard
You can do it on the sea. Kneel the influence then discard the sea. Boom! Minus 3 cost.
Ahhhh, gotcha. The influence has to be paid at the same time as the gold cost (it's not quite a reducer, which is what I was taking it as).
It's also a tad more useful in melee (Stark generally doesn't want the Hand of the King, but sometimes you don't have much choice, and the alliance/opposition makes it worthwhile). Plus, if you ever run Stark KotHH for whatever reason, you've got another non-reducing influence source.
