No?! Leaving aside the choice, which the longship does not offer, and the fact that the plaza, on the other hand, works only on Armies, The Longship works only for one challenge, the Plaza til the end of the phase! Thus, if you somehow use the attacking character again in the same phase, with the plaza it will still be deadly - with the longship not. On the other hand, the longship allows you to draw a card, if its conditions are met... Or what do you mean by "works like"? I mean, the effects are similar - but not the same ones!

I think he means the surprise (or added) deadly, after defenders have been declared
