Meta against some characters which are difficult to deal other way. The best example could be
Beric Dondarrion (IG). Unfortunately it returns all attachments to the owners hand as well and require to reduce STR to 2 or less. If Beric will be pumped it will be difficult to play this event. Two conditional and too weak ability to see competitive play.
One rule question: if I select a character with a duplicate, the duplicate can be discarded to save the character. So what happens to the attachments? If the character is saved the attachments will be bounced to the hand anyway, don't they?

Can this be played when a character is moribund from STR 0 + terminal burn?

*edit* per Ktom, it can't be used to save a moribund character, but whether or not the attachments would be saveable wasn't addressed.

I'm inclined to think, no, they can't. If the character is moribund:dead or moribund:discard, then its attachments are also moribund:discard and so couldn't be rerouted either.

*just wants to endlessly recycle HBD/FK/DS since Griff is so unreliable*
Has anybody tried to create a burn deck without influence?
I guess, you could build a playable burn deck with very little influence, but I am really not sure about no influence at all.
Why would you assume such a restriction to begin with?
Well, I've never created a burn deck without any influence. But I had big troubles with my summer based decks getting enough influence into play. I played 2x Red Keep, 2x Great Pyramid etc. just to enhance the chance to get enough influence. Still there were games where I drew into few influence and my opponents used location control to discard or steal the stuff I had played. And of course very often I got too much influence.

In other houses I often decide not to play any influence locations to speed it up. No dependencies makes the deck less fragile against control. But I'm not really sure if a Targaryen deck can be played without any influence. I guess I will give it a try with HoD + Aegon's Hill. :)
theCrow: Well, I was able to get Shadow burn working pretty nicely without influence (like over a year ago, should be even easier now), and simplifying yourself to only one resource curve does minimize resource-problems quite a bit. However, it also limits your deck structure and forces you to select your burn cards from a much smaller pool, so it's mainly a 'win some and lose some' situation.
Seriously?
Flame-Kissed (Core), Incinerate (VM), Forever Burning (Core), The Hatchlings' Feast (ASitD), Magister Illyrio (VM)?

I'm going to go so far as to say, if you're trying to run burn and not running influence, you're doing it wrong.
Well, I don't think so. Illyrio can be played without ambush, there a lot of cards, which can jump into the challenge phase without triggering influence (especially one shadow card each round). Flame-kissed is - all the way - the best burn card ever. Of course I would miss it. The other ones are good, but no auto includes in burn. For instance pyrophobia is very good card combined with Aegon's Hill and there are more shadow burn effects. Sun stroke (-4 STR) is very often not seen, Dragon Pit is very nice in shadow decks, Selmy and of course the king's landing assasin.
Well, like Grimwalker says, many of the best Burn cards are influence bound, so running burn without it is definately not the obvious or easy path.

However, on the other hand, running a combination of a lot of shadows and influence-heavy -effects is a bit of a recipe for disaster, since you'll have to try and include both plenty of gold generation AND influence... which will make your resource curve either eat a huge chunk of your deck, or just perform willy-nilly.

Really, there's only one single good reason to try and build burn without influence - The Dragonpit (TftRK), which requires copious use of shadows, and thus makes running influence-heavy quite difficult. Then again, that's a pretty decent reason all by itself. Especially with House of Dreams.

Things to remember with this:
- Flame-kissed doesn't require any influence, you can just pay it with gold in Marshalling. You're only losing on flexibility and surprise, not pure burn effectiveness. Then again, Flame-kissed + The Dragonpit is pretty effective by itself, even without Threat from the North in play.
- Neither does running without influence stop the usage of Harried by Dragons, pretty much on the contrary actually, since the search only works when played (not put into play). However, expect problems with some of the shadow burn cards, since heir restrictions to characters without attachments can get a bit tricky.
- With Dragonpit working, Pyrophobia can be played as a response to a character entering play. Think of it as a Targ variant of A House Divided.
- The recycle from Daenerys' Chambers still works nicely without any influence.
- Magister Illyrio is actually really good with shadows, since you're almost always pushing a character out at the start of Challenges. When this is a King's Landing Assassin, you're often hitting one 3 STR and one 2 STR character (Dragonpit remember), and that's without any pre-played Harried By Dragons for Illyrio's ability (Assassin is limited to not having attachments).
- Forever Burning can still be recycled without influence, although this isn't nearly as cost effective (2 gold!).
- In Shadow Burn Aegon's Legacy is a pretty 'ok' (free) substitute for Incinerate, the only problem there really being the timing (Dominance is worse than Challenges).

The character would return to your opponents hand and the attachments would go back to your hand, which is why cards specify "return to owner's hand"
