How does this work with men of pride? Can he still gain deadly?
When you use his ability, you effectively give him "+1 Deadly." Men of Pride will give him "-1 Deadly." So the two will cancel out (1-1=0). And the order of the effects doesn't matter.
Of course, since there is no limit on his ability, you could always discard two cards to trigger him twice. Then, it would be 1+1-1=1, and he'd have Deadly for the phase.
