I standard Baratheon Wildling deck with a few more tricks and a bit more kill then older version.

Though this archtype has not changed significantly in the last year the introduction of Negations at the Great Sept adds a lot to help stabilize draw problems older versions had and Terminal schemes brings a great kill event to the table that most don't expect from wildlings.

The slightly heavier then normal resource base was included to help vs choke decks which in play testing gave the deck problems.

Wildling bards where great to help give the deck a fantastic icon spread as well as a quick boost to power grab if it was needed to end a game.

Feel free to ask questions i will try and check on the thread from time to time.

No Valar?

I really like the plot deck, especially Assault on King's Landing, which I assume is for Greyjoy mostly? I'm also wondering what made you choose Fortified Position over Burning Bridges.

Awesome will look for it!
I would guess it's because so many of his characters get their strength simply from their wildling trait which is unaffected by Fortified Position. While there are a few things hurt by Fortified Position on his side there are also lots of cards that might as well have no text (Renly, Veteran Knight, Varamyr, etc), the ones with positive text are mostly nothing special (Wildling Horde loses deadly.... meh, Tarly loses 1 Str... meh), and even a few with negative text (Crow killers, Craster, Gilly). The main characters that suffer from it are Skinchanger and Val which are also disabled by Burning Bridges. The decider I think would be that Burning Bridges also disables Massey's Hook.

The most beautiful part of this deck to me is that spartan event package. Well done.

tibs3688 perfectly summed up why i chose Fortified Position over burning bridges. Also, in general fortified position proved to be a key anty rush card for me both vs bara but also vs lannister pbhtt. Assault on King's Landing was used for greyjoy and also to iliminate duplicates or other forms of protection vs noble charectures with the high number of bara players it really paid off in testing to run it.

darknoj,
First of all, congrats on the win!

I've been working on my own Bara Wildlings to test out for regionals. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on a few cards on your list and how you came to exclude a few others.

First, the warcrest theme - originally I wasn't including it due to the low numbers of available warcrest characters. Did you ever find that to be a problem? If I go that route, what are your thoughts on the card Robert's Loyalists over the Veteran Knight?

I like the inclusion of the OOH Osha! Any thought of including the Wildling John Snow with your warcrest theme?

Was Salador Saan enough of a location hate card? Ever have problems paying the two gold? Would you ever include Climbing Spikes? They are not in my current build, but it's tempting.

No it was not a problem, i found that the 7 warcrest characters seemed to be enough with my card draw and plots i felt like i had one by turn two most games.

"I like the inclusion of the OOH Osha! Any thought of including the Wildling John Snow with your warcrest theme?"

I considered Mr Snow for the deck but in the end found in many games i did not use his ablity and the four gold cost was just a bit much for him.

"Was Salador Saan enough of a location hate card? Ever have problems paying the two gold? Would you ever include Climbing Spikes?"

I was not using the location hate Salador but rather the power rush one. Which i really liked since wildlings can some times be a bit slow in the power grabbing department. I honestly don't see many locations that i worry to much about in my meta or that i could not counter with a good plot choice. For those reasons i did not run any climbing spikes. I would also have a lot of trouble in cutting some cards to get them in the deck. They are defiantly a meta choice so if their are lots of locations out their that will give you trouble run them forsure...
Thank you for the insight!
hey darknoj how well did you fair against targaryen burn/kothh

edit: also why run randyl tarly?
I ran randyl tarly for both the military crest and the +1 bumb he can give. Even when you look at him in isolation he is a well costed little guy at 3 gold for a 4 strength bi-con.

As for Targaryen burn its very hard for targ to burn down my wildlings with that extra +1 str and the large armies that are in the deck, so i had little to no problem winning vs those decks in play testing.
Hey darknoj, I have been testing this out to see how it plays (still pretty new to the game), and was wondering:

Do you always try to use Mance Rayder to win? I've had a tough time getting him out sometimes, and I've stalled out in long games.
No i don't use mance in all games i mostly take board control and then grind out the win. Mel helps alot but is not required..
Ahh ok - thanks!
I tried a similar list at my own local regional and got crushed, >.> It was a hell of a lot of fun, though. Everyone was surprised by the deck, at least.

First game I was against Baratheon maesters, and I just wrecked him. Assault on King's Landing and Die By the Sword were the deciding factors, killing his Lomys with both dupes on it.

Second game against Lannister Long Voyage (Castellan), I had a terrible set-up, even after mulligan, and just couldn't catch up to him starting with three gold boosters. The kneel eventually won out over my wildlings.

Third game was against Martel House of Dreams (for Ghaston Grey, I don't recall what his restricted card was or if I even ever saw it). I never drew any economy until it was way too late to catch up to his control. Playing one guy a turn doesn't work when it's getting bounced every turn. I flopped First Snow of Winter on turn one to try to alleviate some of his amazing set-up, and he burst out laughing and played a Flea-Bottom Scavenger...

Final game in the swiss was against Targaryen Heir to the Iron Throne. End of turn one, he had a duped Danaerys out, and I had five wildlings. I flipped Assault on King's Landing expecting a Valar, but he flopped At the Gates for Advisor to the Crown and dumped Dragon Lore and Balerion on me. A couple turns and a couple more dragons later and I was done.
Well i am glade you enjoyed the deck, though its to bad your luck and results where not good the day you played.
