Such a good card! Free-gold buff and draw, amazing!
I gotta disagree with you there. Out of the box this card is adequate but in the long run there's just not going to be room for it in your deck, especially considering how strong Stark is in military already. If the buff was for any challenge or if the event was in any other house I'd be more into it.
Depending on how many more "draw" effects end up available to Stark, this card will remain solid for that reason as the card pool expands. Not an "auto-include," but never entirely relegated to "coaster" status.
At worst its a cantrip. Ok, at worst its insufficient to give the military challenge win.
Sure, 0-cost events can still hurt tempo, especially in setup, but given that this card is self-replacing, I think its not at all a hard include. The analogy here for me is DWDW events in 1.0. You didn't need a high threshold for quality of effect to allow for inclusion, you just ran events that were easy to play, and which gave at least some advantage.
That's fair, and like I said out of the box I'm definitely playing it. I'm just saying that once Stark has access to more events this will see a lot less play simply because there will be better events. Additionally, the effect doesn't actually provide any card advantage so when I'm looking at my deck I'm not really going to consider it a "draw effect". That being said if DWDW comes back at some point this event will definitely see play in those stark decks.
Question: "If you win, draw 1 card"
Optional? Doesn't sound like it...
Not optional.
If I draw put to the sword with this event, am I allowed to play it? In other words is the if you win timing within winning the challenge reaction window?
You determine the winner, then any "If you win..." effects resolve, then Reactions to winnning can be played.
