Can anyone think of a situation when this is useful? Wish they would just have copy-pasted the 1st edition version.
I'd run it in a Greyjoy deck with Puts. It could guarantee a trigger first couple rounds, or be a good closer for getting extra unopposeds later.
I'm sure we'll see more War plot synergy later too. Maybe even a Rainsey agenda someday.
So this plot makes Balon's chellange an (almost) guaranteed unopposed chellange, right?
In some cases. Tyrell can still pump small guys up. Night's Watch as well can have Castle Black and practice blades etc. Baratheon can just kneel Balon during that round. Targ can burn him.Stark has Lady etc.
But it offers a better chance, yes.
This is an incredibly strong card for any deck running triggered kill effects. Remember that your big characters can still attack, they just can't defend with their big characters - which in most cases will mean they have absolutely no way to block you. It's obviously strong with PttS in a military focused deck, but you could just as easily use this to force through a Tears against someone who was otherwise matching you on intrigue (think Targ with Dany + Drogo). This will likewise be strong with the Martell Spearmaiden. Its worth noting that 4 cost or higher includes Core Set Catelyn, who otherwise completely shuts down any intrigue based effects. It is also a welcome boost to mid range (3-4 cost) characters - this gives you a way to punch well above your weight for one challenge.
Ok guys, you convinced me of its uses. Thanks!
Oh, and Balon loves it!
This is great for my GJ/Dragon deck. Giving Mirri or Balon+Chair another chance to trigger in a high initiative plot is perfect. The problem is, what to take out for this? Playtesting will tell...
The reviewers are utterly wrong about this card. Battle of Oxcross will be a staple of attrition decks for years to come.
