Tyrell needs a location like the Wall or Winterfell that makes all on-faction characters get +1 to make him work (well, every faction needs that to be honest).
Tyrell have more than enough tools to make him work. More than any other house.
Tyrell has a location to make him work, it's called Renly's Pavilion.
Also you can boost him with Crown of Golden Roses,, Heartsbane, Margaeyry (Core), Growing Strong, "Lord Renly's Ride" or simple Knighted attachment (which is not a bad idea for a knight deck anyway). Or use also Song of Summer plot.
He is nice addition to any knight Tyrell deck as he costs 4 (good for 1st Snow), he is 2 icon with INT and with possible renown - what's not to like.
Yes.... unlike all those renown characters that ARE hit by First Snow....
Lol, in the context of a knight deck it has a logic to it, as there are several low cost knights which can get points by some events, plots or even new Jaime (LoCR). And First snow would wipe those.
In a Knights deck that runs Tourney for the King, there's a very good chance your 3-cost or lower Knights (Arbor Knight, Hedge Knight, etc.) will have Renown power at some point. There's a reason Tyrell had a strong deck with the release of pack 3 of the first cycle. And there's also a reason that deck practically disappeared a pack later when First Snow was released.
Well, all those cards have usually better targets, and all of them last for only one turn. You need to keep investing resources on him for just an extra power each round, just for him to die with them next.
Aside from that, he is a non-Lord/Lady unique character that can be burned and warded. The only reason I would put him at 1x is because he has an INT icon, but I rather have Alerie Tyrell or Paxter Redwyne for those porpuses as I can search for them if needed with either Margaery or Hobber.
That deck also likes to build wide and not tall and it benefits from non unique knights as they offer more bodies on the board for the plot to be abused.
