Wow. I'm still trying to decide if this card + Prince of Dol Amroth is worth losing Lord of Morthond.
Also, does anyone know if Prince Imrahil's ability triggers the Herald of Anorien's ability? My first inkling is to say no, since Imrahil's ability does not seem to play from hand.
If the character coming into play says "played" and not "enters play" or "put into play" or some other variant, then it does not work. "Played" is always in reference to playing the card from your hand, paying it's cost, during the standard phase that you can play that card type.
I agree, it is hard to give up the mono-leadership things, but it is definitely a very strong ability and nearly guarantees to get your Outlands guys rolling. The Lord of Morthond may stall if you don't draw the non-leadership sphere Outlands.
I feel like the old Imrahil actually has much more synergy with Prince of Dol Amroth, since with his Ready ability he gets an extra use out of his massively buffed stats. And he's a better fit in Outlands if you don't hit your Prince of Dol Amroth too, since this one is completely dependent on it in an Outlands deck for his ability to actually work. Not to mention you can still run Lord of Morthond with purple Imrahil.
I like this guy more for Gondor decks (perhaps with Purple Boromir for company) or general Ally decks (and perhaps in future Warrior specific decks) as there are loads of good Warriors/Gondor/Nobles in general to drop in for a round. Legolas, Gimli, Glorfindel, to name but a few.
This guy is pretty insane. He effectively gives you a slightly worse Feint (shadow effects still trigger, can't negate attacks against other players) that recycles back to your hand every turn AND occasionally triggers some juicy "enters play" synergies. It can also be used offensively if needed (1 resource for Beorn and an extra +8 ATK? Don't mind if I do!). He gives you tremendous action advantage by allowing your heroes to quest or exhaust for abilities without having to worry about random undefended attacks.
He's obviously pretty good in a Gondor theme deck, but he fits in fine to pretty much any deck running red cards (since most of the Tactics allies worth playing are Warriors anyway). Great hero.
If the ally dies from blocking, it won't get returned to your hand. But yes, he has a really strong ability. I want to pair him with Leadership Boromir and make a Gondor deck
Right, but he can use the ability every round (unless you run out of allies, which you shouldn't) to pull a new ally out of the deck and throw it in front of whatever enemy needs to be blocked. It's sort of like a slightly worse recurring Feint in that sense (i.e., his ability can essentially read "Pay 1 resource to chump an enemy attack").
He's great with Purple Boromir, for sure. Makes the offensive capability of Imrahil's ability that much more powerful.
