I'm building a new deck for nightmare quests now, and I think that when you play solo and you only have one Core set, like me, this card is making Gandalf a must play, because he now has is own Unexpected Courage.

Yep, I like this card.

I'd just proxy another unexpected courage. This doesn't seem that great in solo play when don't benefit from range and sentinel. I guess the fact neutral cost may make it easier to play then a 2 cost spirit depending on the deck.

Agreed.  The only other advantages I see to shadowfax over unexpected courage is that it can be drawn using the Westfold Horse-Breeder and with a Nor Am I A Stranger or Steward of Gondor/Mutual Accord Gandalf can get the +3 attack bonus from Charge of the Rohirrim.

Let's just call it "the Unexpected Courage" for the poor, then. ;-)

For the rich, more like. Shadowfax costs 3 to play, while Courage only costs 2 :)

Yes.., but it's neutral!

Hero Gandalf, plus his super versatile staff, plus his pipe, (so easy to get with Bilbo -ally-), plus his chameleonic ability and Flame of Anor (with Gildor/Imladris Stargazer/other deck manipulation skills), plus threat reduction to counter his starting threat level (with "Loragorn" this is incredible)... and now, plus THIS... I think Gandalf is unstoppable, he fears nothing, he laughs at Balrogs and Dragons all around!

Now, if you still think he could use more help, just give him Glamdring :-D

Still waiting on his ring as well!

From the wiki: Narya: It is described as having the power to inspire others to resist tyranny, domination, and despair (in other words, evoking hope in others around the wielder), as well as giving resistance to the weariness of time.

So Narya would mainly deal with Treachery cards I guess... Yeah!!

Well it could also be a bostler to will power, or have some effect on questing.  I'm not sure, design wise, they'd want Gandalf to be able to deal with treachery cards since he is already a beast a questing/killing/defending and either resource generation or shadow card management with his staff.

I just wish the "lord of horses" wouldn't look like a young girls dream of a pony...

Eh--I actually really like the art. It's stylized, absolutely, but it works for me.
