This can work well, but it can be tough sometimes to keep a Spirit Hero standing until engagement--I usually want to Quest with them. Of course, UC can help fix that in-sphere but many of them aren't that useful outside of Questing...
Powerful effect but I would say it's pretty quest dependent. Overall I think I prefer Dark Knowledge.
Would probably work well on Dain if you have Song of Travel or Narvi's Belt around.
Two words... okay, three, no, four words.
Glorfindel. Light of Valinor.
Well, yeah. But those 4 words are the answer to a lot of things.
But you're right--if you routinely run Glorfindel then this is a good option since you wouldn't want to reduce his willpower with Dark Knowledge.
I always want to use this card... did it once, but it came late in the game, but it was amazing to see those Shadow cards in advance!
I made a tactics/spirit deck with Glorfindel awhile back that utilized this so I could make sure to survive the shadow cards a little more easily. it worked pretty well but due to needing this and Light plus the usual weapons/armor you want in a tactics deck, it was slow to get going without lucky draw.
What good does having the shadow cards dealt face up do if you can't do anything about them? You, or another player if you are playing with a group, would need the cards that deal with shadow cards.
It helps you know if that 1 atk will be weak enough that you can take it undefended. You can determine how strong each enemy will be and exactly how many shields each defender will need. Nothing like defending everything at the table and not taking a single damage.
It allows you to see what is going to happen and so you can choose defenders better. For example, you could have a shadow effect that says "if the defending character is an ally, discard it" and another (on a different enemy) that says "attacking enemy gets +4 attack", etc. You'd be able to choose to defend the first one with a hero and the other with a chump. The knowledge of what they are allow you to make better decisions on how to block them.
I just re-read the combat phase rules. My group has been playing wrong. We declare defenders, then deal shadows. Seeing the shadows before declaring defenders would definitely be nice.
yep! Glorfindel or Idraen are really good choices for this attachment. Though any hero who has the spirit sphere - such as Gandalf or Aragorn (after he gets Celebrian's Stone) are also excellent options.
