Seems like this has a place in a Silverware deck, lowering the variance and need for recursion. Zero-cost is really something nice.
I've been waiting for this one since it was spoiled. I like it.
Anarch already likes trashing ice via Parasite and Cutlery and Keyhole and Imp and Noise Mill. It's definitely a later game play so x1 or maybe x2. I also like the 3 influence to keep it in faction.
It is worth pointing out that it doesn't work well in an Eater deck using Hades Shard to access archives. But other than that...
Lately it's been good to be an Anarch.
You access all cards in Archives, except for a single piece of ICE of your choosing. You then follow the text on Immolation Script. It does not trash a copy of every piece of ICE; it trashes a single copy of one piece of ICE already sitting in Archives. It is a good card, but it is not as absurdly powerful as you are suggesting.
Yes, you normally look at / flip all cards in archives and then access each one individually, in the order of your choosing. This card grants a partial replacement effect that you can use on one piece of ice that happens to be in archives. You still access all the other cards as normal.
The wording is a little open ended, and an argument could be made for a "greedy" interpretation of the sentence "If successful, instead of accessing a piece of ice in Archives, trash a rezzed copy of that ice.". However in other places when a "for each" effect was intended the language tends to incorporate words such as "all" or "whenever".
My impression is you get to choose one and only one ice to apply the Immolation Script effect to, but you can choose from any of the available ice. However, I could be wrong. We'll find out for sure shortly, now that the data pack is out in the wild.
Hrm. That isn't what I got out of it, but maybe? What do you think that would look like, card templating / mechanics wise? Just a piece of ice with a trap effect if accessed vs encountered?
Heinlein Knows. "if this ICE is accessed from Archives do 1 Net damage"? Bit like Shock? maybe a Trap type that fires as a trap (and is remoived from the game) or fires in the archives?
Could be a whole new scheme - makes IG even more fun!
My reason for the initial suggestion is that otherwise Immolation Sfript seems to have pointless wording - it doesnt make any difference wether I access archived ICE or not. Agendas? Yes. Assest? Some of them (Shock, Space Camp etc). But as far as I can tell as things stand there is no point in saying "I access your archives but Im not going to access that first Eli".
I think it has been worded that way to indicate that Immolation Script can trigger even if Eater is used.
Ah yeah, maybe you're right.
Well, the latest FAQ is out, and ironically it would appear that this card's laborious wording is actually to prevent Eater working with it. I totally misread that one.
I agree with the ruling. Accessing zero cards shouldn't allow for accessing any specific card, but it's good to have clarification. It's definitely less useful for the deck in which it otherwise would have been most useful.
The Faq rulings are often surprising.
