It's a hard counter to "I've had Worse" and John Masanori to be sure.
Sensei certainly likes it (strength-5; rezzes for zero). RP will find the best uses for it on Centrals, but it's so-not-amazing-enough that it'll be hard to find this in any deck actually working well. It's like Jinteki ICE from the early days.
This in front of a Komainu or Psychic Field (or any other card that leaves the runner with no more cards in hand) makes a safe kill with Neural EMP. Although I admit, it's a situational ICE.
Great rez to strength ratio, but too situational.
Hmm. I feel like this is really strong in PE. You generally want to be able to run and then draw cards after you've taken damage for stealing agendas, and this nixes that game plan, unless you can afford to break it over and over again.
This+Chum = 1 credit to rez for a huge tax and if not paid 3 net damage without drawing until next turn...if only there was a way of getting both codegates consistently it could be nice (speculation for a red operation: cost x -> tutor X codegates)
I think this ICE is being grossly undervalued here.
I have played against it in PE several times now, and I want to break the subroutine almost every time. If I don't, and the Corp damages me through House Of Knives, and then I hit a snare, or take damage through hitting an agenda, it's quite possible I'll die next go through Ronin, Neural EMP, scoring an agenda, or any combination thereof. It's hugely taxing, free to rez, and the psychology of it is such that the Runner doesn't even want to break it because it's not strictly necessary, but potentially lethal if they don't.
I'd also point out that it completely nullifies I've Had Worse for a turn, which is a pretty big deal.
A great card for taxing or opening up kill opportunities if the timing is right. The runner will usually pay their way past it if playing against a Jinteki kill deck making a fantastic piece of taxing ice too. Particularly nice in front of a Kitsune.
