Although I think I know the answer, but just to be sure: If you attach this to BtS Luke, his "Reaction:..." text disappears before it can trigger from this enhancement being attached to him, right?

Correct.  BtS Luke will not be able to use his Reaction to attaching Hate.

Correct. Also luke cannot discard enemy enhancements with his ability. Discarding the enhancement is a cost and a cost can only be paid with game elements and cards that you control.So if dark memories was on luke his reaction could trigger off it but he couldn't discard it to remove a focus.

I saw that one answered earlier.. Imagine you could remove a focus token and the "cost" would be discarding a Dark Memories :D

and he loses his elite as well....
